Larry Brooks: Here is a novel idea — let’s play fair

The Democrats are very, very worried over the lack of Lord Obama’s dominance in the polls, even after his lackluster bounce from the Democratic convention. They’re really concerned out there, and now they’re blaming the usual suspect, they’re blaming his lack of a big lead in the polls on race, so very typical.
The arrogance of this is mind-boggling. But the answer is obvious given the fact that the Democrats, joined by big media, have tried to sell Lord Obama as the only savior who can deliver the country from the problems it faces. However, for all the media exposure and Democratic spin, most Americans aren’t buying the Messiah hype.
Liberals think Lord Obama should be far ahead of McCain because they’ve done nothing but spin McCain as being a carbon copy of what they believe is a very unpopular president, George Bush. But if Bush was so unpopular with the American electorate, why was he re-elected in 2004 when we had another Democrat who, for all intents and purposes, was just as polished and articulate as Lord Obama? But that is a topic for another discussion.
Recently Peter Beinart on “Larry King Live” said to the effect “there remains a significant percentage of white Americans, hard to know how many, but perhaps 20 percent who might normally vote Democratic who seem, because of racial anxiety, so far to be unwilling to support Barack Obama. People won’t say it about themselves, but if you ask them, will people they know not vote for Barack Obama, then you get about the percentage of 20 percent. Barack Obama has a huge lead on almost all of the issues, and Democrats have a huge generic advantage. So why is his advantage so small? I think — although one cannot be 100 percent sure — I think there is increasing circumstantial evidence that he is being weighed down, as so many African-American candidates have in the past, by racial anxiety or outright racism.”
I knew this was going to happen.
Oh right, it has to be about racism, as nothing else can explain Obama’s inability to sway the majority of voters. Please, get a clue.
It can’t be the fact that he is avoiding meeting with military people in hospitals. It can’t be that he’s arrogant and condescending to certain voting blocs that tend to “cling to God and guns.” It can’t be that many of his best friends have a criminal record of hatred toward the United States of America and have made careers on it. It can’t be that his wife is ashamed of America and has undergone a makeover in order to tone that down. It can’t possibly be that he tells 7-year-olds who ask him why he wants to be president that his country is less than it once was.
Oh, it can’t possibly be due to anything with Lord Obama and who he is because he is The Messiah, and everybody loves Democrats, and everybody hates Bush, and Obama’s new and unique and we’ve never had anybody like him before. So obviously it must be the Klan is still alive in American politics.
It can’t possibly be that a lot of Americans have now seen Lord Obama as The Messiah and they don’t buy it. They’re ready for some substance from the guy, and they haven’t gotten any. It can’t be that the American people might be going through a backlash over the naked brazenness of big media trying to make this guy president before we’ve had the election. Oh, it couldn’t be any of these things.
No, no, no, no, no. Can’t be this.
It has to be America is such a racist place. Nothing else can explain it.
Could it be that the American people are tired of hearing a highly successful individual complain and whine that there are going to be people who criticize him because he doesn’t look like all the other presidents on the dollar bill? Wait, isn’t that a racial comment from Lord Obama trying to paint himself as a racial victim?
I’d like to ask a question of Peter Beinart and others who are now throwing the race card out. What percentage of minorities out there won’t vote for McCain because of his race?
Some media outlets have suggested that as mush as 92-93 percent of blacks are going to vote for Obama. Well, isn’t that bare-faced racism?
If you’re going to throw around the race card, throw it at everybody. Beinart is just another pundit who has no clue what America thinks.
Lord Obama says he represents blue-collar Americans, but aren’t these the very folks that many in his own party with the likes of big media are calling racists? The truth is, Democrats detest blue-collar America as the God-clinging, gun-toting racists that continue to keep them out of the White House. He would be overjoyed to win without them, but knows he can’t.

ALITTLE HUMOR>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Little Suzy had a box of new born kittens that she was trying to give away, so she had them out onthe street corner with a sign "FREE KITTENS", next to them. Suddenly a big line of big, black cars came up led by a motorcycle policeman. The cars stopped, and Senator Obama stepped out from the limo. "Hi, little girl, what do you have there in the box?" he asked. "Kittens" Little Suzy says. "They're so small, their eyes are not even open yet." "What kind of kittens are they?" he asked. "Democrats" says Little Suzy. The tall man smiled, returned to his car and they drove away. Sensing a good photo opportunity, Senator Obama called his campaign manager, and told him about the little girl and the kittens. It was planned that they would return the next day, have all the media there, and tell everyone about these great kittens. The next day, Little Suzy stood on the corner with her box of kittens with the "FREE KITTENS" sign, and the big motorcade of black cars pulled up with all the vans and trucks from ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN. Everyone had their cameras ready as Senator Obama got out of his limo and walked up to Little Suzy. "Now, don't be frightened," he said, "I just want you to tell all these nice news people what kind of kittens you're giving away today." "Yes sir, "Suzy said, "they're REPUBLICAN kittens." Taken by surprise, Sen. Obama said, "But yesterday, you told me that they were DEMOCRATS." Little Suzy says, "Yes, I know. But today, they have their eyes open." |

Democrats on Capitol Hill fear Obama fallout -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote: Democratic jitters about the US presidential race have spread to Capitol Hill, where some members of Congress are worried that Barack Obama’s faltering campaign could hurt their chances of re-election. Party leaders have been hoping to strengthen Democratic control of the House and Senate in November, but John McCain’s jump in the polls has stoked fears of a Republican resurgence. A Democratic fundraiser for Congressional candidates said some planned to distance themselves from Mr Obama and not attack Mr McCain. Why wont OBAMA share Cash-poor Obama says no to Reid - John Bresnahan - Politico.com Quote: Earlier this month, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made a personal appeal to Barack Obama: Help me grow the Democrats’ Senate majority by sharing some of the $77 million you’ve got in the bank. Obama’s campaign said no. After all he has got this event: DRUDGE REPORT FLASH 2008® Quote: The nation's financials may be in a spiral, but cash is flowing into the Obama campaign faster than Marvin Hamlisch can play "Niagara"! Obama declared how we are in "the most serious financial crisis since the Great Depression." He also hosted a dinner in Beverly Hills --- costing attendees $28,500 dollars each! Typically liberal, is all for sharing and redistribution just not their money. What about the common good of the democrat party... |

WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence. According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July. "He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview. OBAMA TRIED TO STALL GIS' IRAQ WITHDRAWAL - New York Post Though Obama claims the US presence is "illegal," he suddenly remembered that Americans troops were in Iraq within the legal framework of a UN mandate. His advice was that, rather than reach an accord with the "weakened Bush administration," Iraq should seek an extension of the UN mandate. Hmmmmm playing politics trying to get it to his advatage so he can claim credit |

Several municipal clerks across the state are reporting fraudulent and duplicate voter registration applications, most of them from a nationwide community activist group working to help low- and moderate-income families. The majority of the problem applications are coming from the group ACORN, Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which has a large voter registration program among its many social service programs. ACORN's Michigan branch, based in Detroit, has enrolled 200,000 voters statewide in recent months, mostly with the use of paid, part-time employees. "There appears to be a sizeable number of duplicate and fraudulent applications," said Kelly Chesney, spokeswoman for the Michigan Secretary of State's Office. "And it appears to be widespread." Wow! The presidential campaigns are in full swing in the home stretch toward November. The attack ads are coming from the left and the right. Truth does not seem to be a criteria to be elected anymore. Political spin and distortion of the truth have become the norm in politics. So what do we, as regular Americans, do when confronted with these sometimes conflicting attack ads? Irish-I agree with you that we should all mind our own business. The problem with politics and religion is the president's consititutional right to appoint Supreme Court justices for life. Staunch Christian conservatives will only vote for a presidential candidate who opposes abortion so that they can overturn Roe v Wade. They also want a constitutional amendment against gay marriage, because they need laws to help them rid the world of homosexuality. |

Personally, I have Catholics, Congregationalists, Jews, Moslems, Lutherans, Methodists in my family. My deceased brother was a Pentecostal minister so I have seen many religions and many view points. The reason we get along is that we mind our own business and don't tell each other what we should believe. Many people would do better if they followed this advice. |

ringgold, you wanna share that link? AND... As long as I've been on here, that has NEVER been "all you are saying." If it were, there'd never been a problem with the way you say it. I'm still confused as to why people such as yourself would want to compare Obama to Jesus anyway? Perhaps Obama is smart enough to know that he can't do what Jesus did. You obviously can't either, so why run your mouth about it? |

It's not difficult or compromising to be a liberal Democrat and a Christian. Some of us believe viability as a human life does NOT happen at conception. Some of us also believe God created and loves gay people just like the rest of us. I personally believe people are genetically disposed to being gay or being straight. Homosexuality ocurrs with regularity in the animal kingdom. Some of us are also aware that homophobic people always use the book of Leviticus to argue that God abhores homosexuality. I dare say, these same people couldn't abide by the other teachings in Leviticus. They just pick out the one thing they don't like. A timely abortion performed for the right reasons can be a blessing. Let's take the 14 year old girl impregnated by her drunken, abusive uncle. People who would force this child to bear an ill-concieved baby have lost their humanity. I further agree with people who elect to abort due to genetic defect. If I get to stand and associate with people who understand the above - then I'm proud to be associated with them. |

ringgoldone, can you back that up with a fact, quote, or anything? Or, like most of the things you portray as fact, is this just your opinion? I've never heard Obama say anything of the sort. I have good friends that I disagree with concerning their beliefs....I can be friends with them, we can support each other...but it doesn't mean that we agree just because we are friends. I know that's a foreign concept to those proponents of hate and fear, such as Slynay and yourself...but it is something that many people in the world can do without much effort. Again, Niether God NOR Jesus (who IS God) needs you as a mouthpiece. His words are written down very plainly, and are not on the table for your incorrect interpretations of them. |

I'm not too crazy about Rick Warren...but, I'm glad he asked a particular question to Obama and McCain. When asked about salvation, Obama gave the right answer...showing he knew what it was....and proving that he actually had it. And adding to his understanding that his salvation has nothing to do with him, but all about the work of Jesus Christ. McCain gave a short thoughtless answer concerning the actual subject, then went on to talk about his experience in Vietnam...not much talk about Jesus, payment for sin, and such. McCain is an honorable man to have gone thru what he has...I'm not certain that I could have endured that (probably not). But the more I hear him talk, the more I think that is what he is running on....I hear more about that than I EVER have any answer for the problems of the economy...but I guess you'd have to first think there's an actual "problem" in order to ever want to find a solution. And now that Palin is on board....I rarely hear anything about McCain at all. |

Slynay must have liked the people who "Swiftboated" Kerry and he must have loved the Republicans who disrupted the recount in Florida back in 2000. Don't they know how to win an election without telling lies?Obama is a baptized Christian. He is not to be likened to Christ by his friends or his enemies. But, insisting on trying to make him out to be Muslim is just plain ignorant. |

ELECTION 2008Congressman likens Palin to Christ's crucifier 'Obama was a community organizer like Jesus ... Pontius Pilate was a governor' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: September 10, 2008 6:22 pm Eastern By Joe Kovacs © 2008 WorldNetDaily Sen. Barack Obama was likened to Jesus Christ on the floor of the U.S. House today, while Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was compared to the Roman governor responsible for ordering Jesus' crucifixion. Both comparisons came from Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., a supporter of Obama for president. "If you want change, you want the Democratic Party," Cohen said during his one-minute speech. "Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus, who our minister prayed about. Pontius Pilate was a governor." Cohen was referring to comments Palin aimed at Obama during her acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in Minnesota last week. Palin had made fun of Obama for citing his experience as a community organizer, saying, "I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities." "What point was Cohen trying to make?" asked the National Republican Congressional Committee, pointing out it was Pontius Pilate who sentenced Christ to death. One WND reader, expounding on the biblical references, noted, "The community organizer was actually the prisoner Barabbas, and the crowd shouted for him like a rock star instead of Jesus." |

Slynay,I believe you are a vey sick person. Today, of all days....to be attempting to invoke fear.... Why don't you put up the whole story? Is that all that came in your forwarded email? Why don't you talk about the REAL connections between Bush and potential/possible terrorists? -Connections that were there before Bush was ever elected, and have no record of ever being broken. ALOT of it has to do with OIL. Anyone still wondering why gas is so expensive should really do some research on those "connections." It's sad that you can't see past your hatred long enough to look into something that you are so evidently suffering for. Please. If you are going to bring up something related to one of the most devistating days in American History, do something to put it into remembrance of the victims....not trying to invoke fear so that the candidate you oppose might "scare" someone. Want to see some questionable connections? Look no further than your CURRENT president. |

Barack Obama's Muslim Outreach Coordinator, Mazen Asbahi, resigned under pressure in August after it was revealed that he was "a frequent speaker before several groups in the U.S. that scholars have associated with the Muslim Brotherhood.""The Muslim Brotherhood, of course, is engaged “in America [in] a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.” — Mohamed Akram, “An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America,” May 22, 1991" "And now it turns out that Asbahi hasn't really quit at all." Key Aide Hasn't Really Quit "Last month, his coordinator for Muslim outreach, Mazen Asbahi, a Chicago lawyer, quit after reports that he belonged to the board of an Islamic investment fund that included a radical imam." "Asbahi has not stopped working on behalf of Obama, though. He appeared at the luncheon to say that despite his official exit he was still "110%" behind Obama and that he was participating in campaign conference calls on Muslim outreach." "Stepping down was a "strategic decision," he told the audience. Asbahi declined to answer IBD questions clarifying his current role. [...]" "Muslim Brotherhood Influential Islamist organization Supports imposition of Shari'a law Approves of terrorism against Israel and the West Founded in 1928 by the Egyptian activist Hasan al-Banna, the Sunni Muslim Brotherhood is one of the oldest, largest and most influential Islamist organizations. Egypt has historically been the center of the Brotherhood's operations, though the group maintains offshoots throughout the Arab-Muslim world -- including in Afghanistan, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, the Palestinian territories (Hamas), Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Sudan -- and is also active in the United States and Europe. Islam expert Robert Spencer has called the Muslim Brotherhood "the parent organization of Hamas and al Qaeda." I have complete faith that Islam will invade Europe and America, because Islam has logic and a mission." Many other leaders of the Brotherhood have likewise justified terrorism against Israel and the United States, with many defending the September 11 terrorist attacks against America. Jews are another common object of the Brotherhood's hatred. Of the Jewish people, Sheik Yousef Al-Qaradhawi, the spiritual leader of the Brotherhood, has written: "There is no dialogue between them and us other than in one language -- the language of the sword and force." Got to give Obama credit....he is multicultural(sarcasm) |

How Did Obama Get Into Harvard In The First Place?Attorney Percy Sutton, who has represented such controversial figures as Malcolm X, explained he received a letter from Dr. Khalid al Mansour, of Texas, whom he describes as the “principal advisor to one of the world’s richest men,” asking him to use his Harvard connections to help out an applicant to Harvard Law named Barack Obama. He assured him, Mr. Obama had satisfied all of the requirements of admission. According to Attorney Sutton, per Dr. al Mansour’s request, he wrote to friends at Harvard, describing Obama, whom he had never met, as a “genius” they would want to help out any way they could. http://www.audacityofhypocrisy.com/2008/08/28/khalid-al-mansour-the-muslim-supremist-obama-doesnt-want-you-to-know-he-helped-obama-to-harvard-law-school/ Also see http://atlasshrugs2000 |

Most people don't want kids at 17 but know that someday in the future they will. The issue is not this young girl's pregnancy in my opinion. Everyone makes mistakes and she is making the best of her situation. The issue is that her Mother had a "holier than thou" attitude with everyone else, abstinence was the only way, don't give information on how to prevent pregnancy. It came back to bite Mrs Palin in that same place toosavoter mentioned. The issue is that Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly in their pompous opinions derided Jamie Lynn Spears and her parents "pinhead" I believe was the term Mr O'Reilly used. They were all practically less than dirt, but now that the darling of the neocon movement is in the same situation it's noble to make the best of the situation and Bristol's parents are not to blame at all , they don't seem to think that the Palins didn't have control over their daughter but they didn't mind saying how the Spears family didn't have control over Jamie Lynn and therefore her pregnancy was all their fault. A double standard. That's what I find fault with. I use these two news commentators as an illustration of how it seems the entire Republican party is responding. I really do wish the best for this young girl and her baby, and if her boyfriend's myspace is truly indicative of his character she's would probably be better off without him, but let's hope it was just a teenage boy trying to act tough and he's grown up some now. |

maggie, I have had many chunks taken out of my backside, and there is still plenty left for many more bites, but thanks for your concern.I agree that we should focus on facts and not post lies or rumors. Thanks to hoosier for the due diligence on book banning lie. I have always been an advocate for truth and citing sources for quotes and articles posted here. As far as Bristol Palin, I think it is really sad that the conservatives are using her for political gain. Here is an article about Levi Johnston, her "fiancee": From NY Daily News "Bristol Palin's pregnancy was an open secret back home", 9/2/08: "... On his MySpace page, Johnston proudly declares: "I'm a f---in' redneck." "I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing," he says on the site. He also warns that if anyone messes with him, "I'll kick a--." The Web site, before it was removed, appeared not to have been accessed for a year. On it, he admits to having a girlfriend. On the part where it asks about children, he wrote, "I don't want kids." Mark Okeson, the assistant principal at Wasilla High School, told the Chicago Tribune that Bristol started her junior year last fall, in the town where Sarah Palin grew up. He said Bristol inexplicably transferred to an Anchorage high school midyear, leaving Levi behind. "I never heard the story why," he said. " I guess he must have changed his mind about having kids. |

Hoosier, I so totally agree, lets stick to the facts of what the candidates are planning, not what their families have done. |

No problem. I know that sometimes erroneous things are posted unknowingly. I would LOVE for once to have an election that isn't based on negativity and would focus on issues rather than mudslinging... and that goes for all sides... Republicans and Democrats. |

I don't know how you feel about this, but I truly believe that book banning is just WRONG in a free country! Suppression of differences (cultural differences, different opinions) is NOT what the USA stands for! We don't need anyone who thinks that way leading our nation. For those of you who think that all of the opposition to Sarah Palin is from "leftwing" nuts; the following is a list of books that she tried to get banned when she was mayor of Wasilla. I am not sure that Mark Twain, William Shakespeare, Maya Angelou and Geoffrey Chaucer would be considered dangerous to children. Judy Blume give me a break. Harry Potter, who is kidding who. I also fail to see how Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary by the Merriam-Webster Editorial Staff should be banned. This information is taken from the official minutes of the Wasilla Library Board. When the librarian refused Palin tried to get her fired as she did with the Safety Director of the State who refused to fire a trooper who was getting a vicious divorce from her sister She also told her Assembly of God Church in June 2008 that it is "God's Will" that the federal government contribute to the expansion of the Alaska pipeline. (M ust have been talking to George Bush). She sounds like one of those lawyers Bush put into the justice department. This is the list of books Palin tried to have banned. As many of you will notice it is a hit parade for book burners. ps: on the issue about the palin girl who's preggers.i'm more then certain this girl wasnt taught abstinance only.. she goes to school, right? well she knows about condoms and contraceptives same as any other girl her age [and WAY younger]. and to say that the Obama girls, 'would know better' .. i'm sure Gov. Palin thought the same thing of her own daughter. just wait till you have teenage girls of your own. you wont know anything about their personal lives except what they choose to tell you. and the better a girl she is.. the better she is at hiding the certain little bad things she MAY do behind ur back every now and then. |

VERY hypocritical post..I dont think it's the racial issue at all. I think this bright eyed and bushy tailed pretty face came along and took some of the Clinton votes from the democrats. and i'm sorry.. but do not get me started on the double standard in black/white racism. |
