In regards to these movies, I dont think banning them or protesting will bring about the results you are hoping for... any publicity for these films is good publicity, any debate will bring people to see the film out of curiosity that would not normally go... keep true to your values and live what you believe that will make the difference.

Take Care

Wiley, I too like "The Passion of Christ". I was awed in a way I had never been before at the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior. As for Mel Gibson's motives for making the movie, maybe it was for money, but somehow I don't think it was. He could make plenty of movies for mere proffit. Mel Gibson is just simply human like the rest of us and subject to mistakes. Only he is a celebrity and when he messes up, it is made very public. Don't be so hard on him, he did bring a wonderful message to many, many people.

As for Bruce Almighty, haven't seen that one, but Evan Almighty was truly funny and again, it did not mock God.

Oh yeah....just for the record I did really like "The Passion of Christ" but when Gibson went to jail I saw that it was'nt in his heart to spread the Word of God to all the world...it was all about the money he could make off of it...that's my point

There is no proof of "banning" the movie at all....I don't know how it became an issue for you to resent any comments being made.romega said he expected to see it's sponsors banned..sponsors...but you can't get people to step out of the box and defend what they believe in any more so yeah I would call that giving up.Most people like to stay in their own little comfort zone and as long as they get what they think they should have then fine...its ok what the rest of the world does.Long as it don't effect them then every thing is fine.Just like "The Passion of Christ" made millions but its creator was later caught driving DUI...wonder what it would have been like if the DUI came before the movie?Just a thought to ponder on....who knows what the creator of this movie was thinking when he made it.BTW...I did'nt like Bruce Almighty either

Msla, if you don't go to see it in the theater, be sure to get it on DVD, it is hilarious and you will laugh your head off. Laughter is definitely good for the soul and one of God's gifts to mankind!!!!!

Wileysden, we haven't seen Evan Almighty either. (In fact, we never see anything until someone else shows us or we get a DVD or video later, but that's just us.) But I know one thing: God loves for us to smile. And one of the reasons we are made this way is to be inherently social animals. That keeps us interdependent and fulfills God's ultimate commands to love Him and spread His word. God is soooo supercool! When I look at these underlying things done to facilitate His will with us and through us, I grin from ear to ear - after I'm overwhelmed, humbled, and etc., .... you know, .... after all those feelings.

So I have no opinion about the movie because I haven't seen it. But I resent your comment about Christians giving up on banning the movie. I think if there was a reason for negative comments, bans, pickets and that sort of thing, Christians would be doing it and we'd hear about it in the news by now. The Christian Right, the Catholic Church and Jewish Orthodox groups - to name a few - are heard from regularly when they perceive something like this to be out of line.

Wileysden, I am a Christian and this movie does not mock God. In fact, it has a positive message about faith and family and even doing something when the whole world is mocking you. Yes it is a comedy, but it has a positive message. Have you ever watched Veggie Tales? Some could say using vegetables as Biblical characters could be mocking religion, but of course it is not. See the movie before you judge it.

I haven't seen the movie but personally think that the premise is hilarious. When I first saw the commercial for it, I immediately expected to see the religious groups trying to ban sponsors, etc etc etc etc.......but I haven't seen it.......either they're busy with other stuff or they're being ignored by the press.

I'm sorry...but I just can't seem to find a "mockery" of the Word of God to be in any way hilarious and cute. The no sex and no cussing is a good thing but the flood itself was a serious thing in the Bible.Just my opinion and every body has the right to one.

I'm sorry, but in the last post I put down the wrong last name of the star. Her name is Wanda Sykes. You'll recognize her if you watch any stand-up comedy at all. She also works on the Monday night show "The New Adventures of Christine" or something like that.
I love good stand-up comedians. It takes guts. I had started doing that in Atlanta and once as a guest appearance at a private party here in Rome just before the grandgirls arrived. I wanted one last time of going around the country like a bum - working my way by laughing. Oh well. I guess I'm a grandma instead.

There is a little half-hour show on TVOne called "Wanda At Large." It's already in re-runs right now. I started taping it and watching it. It comes on at 9:00 pm or 4:30 am. Anyway, it's a comedy with the stand-up comedian Wanda Styles. It's a little corny but in good fun. If anybody starts watching it and needs some background, let me know as I know the beginning. I like it in an offbeat sort of way.

My favorite movies are coming out again. Pirates and Harry Potter! Cant wait! Any Harry Potter fans out there? Probably not at 1:30 in the morning, but maybe later. I dont get to chit chat during the day. I just leave my blogs and wait and see what everyone else has to say the next night. Anyway, I DONT READ. But I got so addicted to Harry Potter, I went out and bought the next 2 books. They are awesome. I cant wait to see the movie. Everyone says that the books always tell more detail that the movies, so I'm anxious to see what exactly is in the next movie. It will be kinda ruined for me, since I already know what is going to happen, but I cant wait to SEE it.
Have a good night or morning. Whichever

I doubt anything will change, but the powers that be at AI, Howard Stern, votetheworst.com, ought to have to apologize to Sanjaya for giving him false hope of becoming the next American Idol. He should have not even been in the top 24.

Lord, you mean "Sangy" finally got voted off? Man, I haven't kept up with Idol since Chris Daughtry was voted off. I feel that this was the worst Idol in history, what I have seen of it. I have to watch it every once and a while because some people in my household likes it, but if there is a kitty litter box that needs cleaning, this is when I do it. But thank God the people of America have come to their senses!! I do think that Blake in the most "entertaining" one though.

Yall take it easy and breath now, HE's GONE!!!

Hey Dazey, I was the same way, but I did feel bad for him. I think he is a sweet kid also, but he should have been voted off a long time ago.

Yes, Maggie! I think I strained my vocal chords hollering so loud. HA! I did feel sorry for him when he cried. He seems like a sweet kid, but NOT an American Idol.

I actually voted, the first time ever, in an effort to bolster the votes for the good singers. Of course, I did not vote for Sanjaya. I didn't vote for Haley either, Gina is much better then she is. I guess all the guys around the country were voting for her rather revealing dress!!!!! Surely, Sanjaya and Haley will go before any of the remaining singers.

I agree, Maggie. Some good talent has been voted off. I felt bad for Gina when she cried.

You're right bird dog. I forgot he wasn't even in the bottom three. That's scarey. ha!

It is so crazy that he is still on the show, Gina did not deserve to go home yet, but then again, neither did all the others who have gone home while Sanjaya still hangs in there to torture us another week.

Will Sanjaya go tonight? ha! I think he did "ok" last night. That doesn't make up for all the "not ok's" in the past.

I hope next year's American Idol is better. It sure has been a let down this year. :-(

If you haven't already gone to see Meet the Robinsons, wait until it comes out on DVD. To me it wasn't anywhere as good as Cars, Over the Hedge, or Madagascar. I guess kids enjoy it, but the others were enjoyable for all ages. It is also a little pricey as you have to pay an extra 2.00 per ticket for the 3D glasses, which made adult tickets 8.95 and child tickets 7.95.

This is the first year I have watched Idol from the beginning, but if Sanjaya wins, I won't watch it anymore. I bet the judges are kicking themselves for putting him into the group of 24, when the public starting voting.

What the heck was that hair do on sanjaya?? Bet he's not voted off tonight. I don't understand this year's American Idol. It doesn't remotely compare to years past. Only a couple of good people. The rest are bland. Seems like the ones voted off were the best.

Once again, if we can believe Dialidol.com, it looks like Sanjaya is safe. Maybe they should let us vote for who we thought was the worst.

If he Sanjaya gets through this week, that means he is on the tour - how ridiculous!

I personally hope Melinda makes it all the way. She is so far ahead of everyone else.

Well another night of American Idol, I sure hope Sanjaya gets voted off this week, but somehow I doubt it. It is so wrong for him to continue, when he just can't sing. Still loving Melinda, Lakisha, and Jordin.

I was happy to see Sanjaya in the bottom 2. Dial Idol missed that one big time.

One interesting note on AI: Melinda, Lakisha, Jordin, Chris Sligh, Phil, and Sabrina - all Christians. Kind of amazing for a secular talent show.

He knows he doesn't belong on there, oh well maybe next week. Blake is the blonde headed guy, but not sure which girl you are talking about. Is it Hayley? I just wish those that are voting for Sanjaya, would get a life and realize that it is not funny having someone with no talent continuing, while those that can sing get sent home. Ultlimately, of course, they all have to be voted off, until we get down to the final two, but let the good ones be on there for as long as possible. I wasn't really bothered that Brandon went home, his days were numbered, but he is way better then Sanjaya.

I like Gina and I think Haley is beautiful and has some talent, I agree Sabrina should have still been on and Sundance. I would have loved to have heard both of them sing a Diana Ross song. Sanjaya is just not good and he knows it. I bet the judges regret even putting him through to the group of 24.

Guess we will just have to wait and see tonight.

Accoridng to DialIdol.com, Sanjaya came in THIRD last night behind Melinda and Lakisha. Jordin ranked fourth.

VoteTheWorst.com is pushing their group to keep Sanjaya in. They do this every year, but apparently their group is growing. Idol needs to change the voting to the Dancing With The Stars method: 50% judges; 50% votes. To have Sanjaya and Haley/Gina is a travesty when Sundance and Sabrina were voted off.

Melinda, Lakisha, and Jordin are my favorites. They are just so geniune. I guess lean to Melinda the most, as she is just so humble about all of it. I like some of the guys, but these three are just on a different level entirely. It will be interesting to see who goes tonight.
