Message for kristie2490: I've tried to send you an email to ask about the story you hinted at about a woman being attacked in Spring Valley. THe email came back with a bad address. Would you be willing to give a good address? |

Wes.You said "911 call centers suck" - too many questions asked. It's like that in all Georgia counties from what I know. I worked at a 911 center and we were given lists of questions we had to ask before we sent an officer to a house. If an ambulance was called, AFTER we dispatched the ambulance and first responders, we had to ask the age and gender of the patient, the problem, were they breathing, etc to relay to the first responders and the EMT's. There were times we had to send the coroner too. If a fire was reported, we dispatched the FD immediately. Then we asked our questions. If a domestic fight was reported, we dispatched MORE than one car and asked questions to save the lives of our officers. Do you understand how important these questions are now? I hope so, because I would not want a first responder to come to my house without oxygen and an EKG machine if was having another heart attack. I don't think you would like it either. The grass always looks greener on the other side, but believe me, Gordon County 911 is more responsive than other counties. Be glad they do their jobs. |

What makes me mad in Gordon County?Driving down the road yesterday and seeing signs asking me to vote for a certain Calhoun Police Department detective as a Probate Judge! Hah! Not if hell froze over, not if Satan got saved, not if gravity reversed, not if water were gold, not if ... well, you get the picture. My solution? Vote for the other guy! |

I found out last night that there is a man in SpringValley attacking women! One was yesterday afternoon and one was a week or two ago! Found out through a neighbor! I SERIOUSLY think that THIS is something that should be made public knowledge through our paper, our radio stations , etc. Its very scary to think that someone is attacking women in the broad daylight and he's still on the loose! Just MY way of getting the word out ~ Ladies? Always be looking over your shoulder. Keep your cell phone with you. Lock your doors! Stay SAFE! |

Here is a "what do I get mad about" but its NOT just folks in Go.Co (unfortunately its world wide!)I wanna know what ever happened to the value of keeping one's word? Such as when you make a contract with another to provide some service or be PROVIDED with a service and you agree to DO the service or PAY for the service and then "poof!" I have some REAL players around me right now and quite frankly its "tickin" me off!! I provide childcare to someone who has now "stiffed" me for the 3rd time! I ADORE the child and the mother KNOWS it! Ive excused and excused and excused money she owes me! Ive agreed to " get paid later " Today is my LAST straw! She ACTUALLY told me that she COULD write me a check today ~ "But I'll go ahead and tell ya ~ its gonna bounce!" WT?????? I hate it bc I adore the lil girl BUT today was the LAST straw! Thanks! I needed to vent!! Anyone know of any openings ?? cause tomorrow my behind will be lookin for a job!! (And one with a respected PAYROLL dept!! and timeclock!!) |

Wouldn't not suprise me at all. They allow all kinds of idiots to work in the jail and civil service. Typically the good cops get put on patrol duty and those too ______ to work patrol get the lesser duty.Plus the GCSO allows there officers to commit purgery and false arrest without any punishement. Pictures don't lie and soon another jury will see them! |

Our County Comminishers never saw a tax dollar they couldn't spend. The solution? LIVE WITHIN YOUR BUDGET. Don't expand in years that the taxpayers have no raises .To pay the extra taxes you impose on us for new trucks that you can pickup from state or federal surplus for a fraction of the price. |

I want to say that I am VERY disappointed in the Calhoun Times for their LACK of respect for a Go Co fallen soldier! The front page news was NOT as worthy as the loss of that precious boy! I wonder how many others HAVENT been honored properly that some of us dont know about? To his family and friends: My heart and my prayers go out to you all! My son was a classmate of Cody's and he is devastated at the news. We are SO SO sorry! BRING OUR BABIES HOME!! |

Ladi,I,m sorry you had to find out how meidia and politics go together.Neither care about anything but money! They will cover for each other. If one is uncovered, the other will denie knowing anything. The only way to settle is to go to the person and reprimand this person in person.Yourself,in public, tell it like it is ,and don't back down.Make sure you don't curse.Have all the facts right, and lay it on the line! Then watch the word spread. |

Well word gets out quick.I was told someone who "moderates" this board,and/ or works at the Times, also has friends (faculity) at G. Central HS. I guess he (or she, right) pulled the plug on my previous posts which mysteriously disappeared! The way I see it. ANYONE who physically or verbally assaults/ and or abuses the students that they are supposed to be teaching should be permanantly reprimanded. What kind of leadership do the kids have? And ANYONE who covers up for such actions should be considered just as if they do it themselves. I hope none of these people can sleep at night!!! One more game, then keep your ears open! |

Sorry about your frustration , Ladi! Thankfully mine is out of school! (Ive still got loved ones in school though ) luckily they dont associate with this person (Im not familiar with the story - I skip the Sports Section - its tiresome)But if you have someone (a loved one) having to deal with that situation its very frustrating! As we all saw from the incident with the 911 dispatcher who STILL HAS HER JOB (WOW!) Gordon County "officials" to just what they da** well please and if others dont like it well - we all know where we can go, right? I have the displeasure of still living here (Our house is up for sale but nothing yet) BUT we dont work here or play here , shop here or buy our gas here (unless we HAVE to) and then there are only a VERY small handful of merchants that we will do business with! As soon as someone makes us an offer? We are OUT of here! It cant happen too soon for us! |

It really SUCKS that one has to go to Rome,Cartersville or other local cities to enjoy decent food and service. Whats with this city/county? Is Ruby Tuesday and Cracker Barrel the best this town can do. Adairsville has more in good eats than this town. If you watch the restraunt inspection reports for Calhoun, it makes you think twice before eating anywhere. Someone needs to get with it !!! |

Women arrested over chemical abortion bidCOLUMBUS, Ga., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- The mother and two cousins of a Columbus, Ga., teenage girl have been charged with trying to induce an abortion by forcing her to drink turpentine. Police were investigating an alleged sexual assault of the unidentified 16-year-old when the girl told her school guidance counselor her mother and two female cousins had forced her to drink turpentine twice in the last month, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reported Wednesday. Police spokeswoman Sgt. Debra Bohannon said it isn't known if the turpentine had any toxic effects on the girl or the fetus. "There's no medical evidence that would support you could induce an abortion by giving her turpentine," Bohannon said. "Still, it's not made to ingest. It's not good to ingest." The teen's mother, Rozelletta Blackshire, 44, and two cousins from Eufaula, Ala., Shonda Blackshire, 26, and Monica Johnson, 28, were arrested and charged with criminal abortion. The teenager is in protective custody, the newspaper said. How cruel and unreal for this girl!! Makes me REAL mad! |

Oh! BTW..... we now have a Cracker Barrelin Adairsville! When will they get one in Floyd County? Perhaps when the bypass from Coosa to #27 S.is completed? The Veteran's Highway would be a good place to start. Hear, over 50,000 travel it daily (according to DOT). Just a thought! |

Wes: You are right on target! Now for the Pope. would you call him racist, bigot or other? I think he is "back peddling" now. If I was the "most holy one", I don't think I would venture out for a while, especially to Turkey. Did u see where the little 9 year old girl's photo i.d. for her passport was rejected because she showed too much skin ie: a sundress. Plans were to visit some Islamic countries. Give me a break! We must be compliant for them. What about us? Big, I have figured out who you are now!Happy editing. |

McD's sure was nasty on Saturday night around 6pm!! You would think that they would be so busy that the food would be fresh and hot.....NOPE!We live on the other side of town so taking it back wasnt an option! I get SO tired of NASTY food in this town! Managers cant you run your stores properly? And the Go.Co.Food Scores website REALLY needs to be updated more often to reflect any problems! I rely a great deal on that site to determine where we will and wont eat! I believe this town could benefit from a real live "in your face" food critic. One that could do an article in the Times weekly! That MIGHT make these places shape up ! ! ! ! I'll take the job!! And do it for free!! |

Big Shiggy, what do you call our founding fathers?Alexander Hamilton insisted that "the safety of a republic depends essentially on the energy of a common national sentiment; on a uniformity of principles and habits; on the exemption of citizens from foreign bias and prejudice; and on the love of country which will almost invariably be found to be closely connected with birth, education, and family." Clearly, Washington's call for "one people," Madison's insistence that the immigrant "incorporate himself into our society," Jefferson's concern that some newcomers might not be prepared for "temperate liberty," and Hamilton's emphasis on the "safety" of our republic and the "love of country," are all more or less of one piece. They are a clarion call for "patriotic assimilation." Given the founders' forthright insistence on patriotic assimilation, it is not surprising that the Naturalization Law of 1795 required that before becoming American citizens, aliens would have to "renounce under oath" all previous sovereign allegiances. This "renunciation clause" remains today part of the naturalization law and part of the oath to the U. S. Constitution that all new citizens must take. Theodore Roosevelt's "In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us" |

The racism on this board is amazing. Racists are far more dangerous than (IS CALLING ME A RACIST NOT A RACIST COMMENT IN ITSELF?) immigrants (ILLEGAL OUTLAWS LAWBREAKS, FELONS) and have committed far more acts of terrorism in this country than Muslims. (WHO MENTIONED MUSLIMS PERHAPS YOU ARE THE RACIST)My guess is that you are a weak passive person who at any sign of a challenge back down and take the easy way out. Passive and weak citizens will be the down fall of our country. |

So, Romelistener? Your ok with the "hip hop" that the sonic is known for being replaced with polka sung in a different language that you cannot understand? And you are ok with "them" being rude to you at every drop of their hat? You just smile, nod and move on?? I highly doubt it unless you ARE one of those people! Ever heard of "When in Rome, Do as the Romans?" Thats ALL we are saying here! I dont care who you are, what color you are, where you were born, but I DO CARE that you have respect for the citizens that you are CURRENTLY living with, dining with, calling your "customers" etc etc... MUTUAL respect here - my friend! THEY will respect ME and I will respect THEM. If they do not - I do not....see how it works? |

I went out checking on Gondi's last night.HMMMMMMM. Think you were right in your first response. Greek food tastes good in Cedartown at Zorbas, and the Greek proprieter at the Partridge on Broad Street in Rome, could not be any nicer. Sorry to say, the response from these (newly moved into the south) folks is more common than has been noted. I don't think that would be called racism, I think that is called expecting Southern Hospitality which is indicative of the south. Just an observation. |

Um...No! The "attitude" is a product of THEIR actions...I make a purchase, put it on the counter, ask "How are You today?" With my gracious smile ....and I get this !! "Ah!!! You gonna use credit card for just theese? You buy something else!!!!! " Um, Hello? Bite me is what I said on both occassions and walked out WITHOUT finishing the transaction!! I wont be back ! Its uncalled for! Come on ..... Lets talk about who is rude more often? Someone is lacking in Southern Hospitality and it certainly is NOT the Southerners MOST times! Yeah, some arent tolerant of diversity. This isnt about diversity and it isnt MY fault that BOTH of those occurrences happened to involve Indians.... |

Racists present a far bigger threat to our society and commit far more wrongs than hardworking immigrants who are trying to better themselves. Is it perhaps your attitude toward these businesses that causes them to be rude? |

Ive got something to say to all you merchants who are so RUDE as to snap at your customers for using credit cards for small purchases!!!This happened to me TWICE and both times the merchants were foreign!! (Its an observation - get over it!) It happened Once at Js food Mart and Once at Gondoliers! I WILL NOT do business with these jerks ever again!! And FYI? I KNOW you have to pay a fee!! But FYI? I can buy a 2 liter Coke for 99 cents at Ingles AND use my credit/debit card without getting FUSSED at !! YOU make YOUR money , charging 1.50 for the VERY same Coke!! And furthermore ! If not for foreigners ? I could CARRY cash around and not be nervous about getting attacked and robbed! Sound racist? Oh well! Sounds like someone needs to be taught that the customer is always right and how to treat the public that THEY SERVE!! |

I've been noticing the same thing lately Wes. I've even seen younger people and very healthly looking people that were not overweight on the scooters. It's a dead giveaway that they are not sick when they jump off the scooter to get something off the top shelf. What is this new trend all about?? |

All of the fat lazy people riding the scooters in Wal-Mart. Get off your fat ----- and walk some. You might just might loose some weight! And don't ride the scooter down the cookie aisle - you don't need any of that stuff. Its why your in the chair. There are .01% that have real medical problems and need the scooters. So you know who you are. Glutony is a sin. |

I am not necessarily MAD about this I just find it to be a bit of a "double standard" if you will ... or just "not quite fair" to everyone else.In yesterday's Calhoun Times Karen does here column on a Chinese Resturant that she, her hubby and "princess" (sorry thats a little sickning...lol) frequent. She goes on and on in "plugging" this resturant and I am SURE that they didnt PAY the times for the plug. Now what about all of the OTHER resturants and OTHER business's in town who pay (and pay dearly btw) The advertising for this paper is getting OUTRAGIOUS the Times weekly for advertisement? Karen shouldnt you "plug" a different business every week, just to be fair? |

Here's another one: What do I get mad about? Nasty Resturants, rude service, mixed up orders...There is only a handful of places that I WILL eat in this town! Great Wall is one! Think I'll place an order now! But Miss Kitty? Why have you stopped giving out fortune cookies? And your prices are getting on up there babe! Might be getting a lil too hefty a price before too long... And quit being so stingy with the condiments. 3 dinners need more than 3 pkts. |

*Rude business owners! I wouldnt grace the Gondolier's resturant with my presence if they paid ME! How can you do business and do it successfully and be SO RUDE?*Wow, Kristie! This post jumped out at me. Why? Because we haven't darkened the doors of Gondolier's since our last visit over 6 mos. ago. They gave us the wrong pizza. It was extra cheese and nothing else on it. We had ordered all meat. They wouldn't fix it. They wouldn't do anything about it. The waitress even argued and said that was what we ordered. The owners/bosses whoever they are, were RUDE. Made excuses for the waitress being new. Was that our fault she screwed the order up??? Can you imagine being treated that way? We'd never go back in there again. |

If you call 911 in a real county this is what happens."I need an officer at 111 Joe street" 911 "officer is on there way" In Calhoun you'll get a 100 questions that are wasting time that an officer has to arrive on scene. Not to mention the fact that numerous local cops have told me stories about how 911 has screwed up numerous times. By not passing information, or waiting to pass information. or giving the wrong address. I've been told by people to simple call and give the address, ask for help and hang up. |
