My info is coming straight from the horses mouth. (take it how you want) The apartment complex will have nothing to do with the rehab center. And as far as 10-20 homes...that guess is way outta the ballfield. (maybe half that many and that is not a guarantee @ this point) I dont have to assume your income level... word has gotten around and I came to my conclusion on that by the home that you live in. As far as being an abuser I would almost guarantee that some where in YOUR family there is a substance abuser. Yes you HOPE that a loved one doesn't need this, but what if that day comes and you have to drive MILES to take them to a descent facility...then you'll wish you would have kept your mouth SHUT! If you children are on your property and being supervised then they will not be playing around this! The people that are in this facility are outta the house by 8am and return around 6:30 pm....thats plently of time for children to play if you feel that strongly about it. You say "MOST" but that doesn't include "ALL". This is a christian based rehab and there is a extensive back ground check done on the guys before they are allowed in. And a far as "one bad egg" theres always one of those to ruin something good for everyone else! |

DAZZLIN - why don't you elaborate on where you are getting your info? You are correct in the fact that currently only 1 home is being built but according to County administrators the builder wants to build 10-20 plus 3 apartment complexes. Also - did I mention my income level? Nice of you to assume my income level is more and that I am an abuser. Also - I do hope I nor anyone I know ever needs this facility. My only concern is that it is being built right in the middle of a quiet community, children all around. Why should children have to play around this everyday? Why can't an area that isn't in the middle of a neighborhood be explored? When I originally made the post, I did refer to offenders. In my experience with abusers, most of them have been involved in some sort of a crime. Any reference to them being released from an incarceration facility to the homes was not intended. Either way the potential for getting one "bad egg" and something hapenning is greater than if the homes weren't here. |

Do they put sex offenders in halfway homes? Good lord, I'd hate to have to go there for theft. But I wouldn't want it in my neighborhood either. I'm certain all of these poor, wrongly-convicted criminals are doing their best to become productive members of society, but it would be bad enough if one scumbag moved in next door much less a whole group of them. By the way, prisons have very structured schedules........and rape, and murder, and assaults..... |

AMEN teamo! Most people that get involved with the drug of their choice do this while being school age! You can turn the TV on just about every day and you see where a teacher is having a sexual relationship with a child and here we have someone worried about a rehab house being near their home. The people that stay in these house are on a VERY strict schedule! It very obvious that NOT ON BELL ROAD has not needed a facility like this for a loved one. |

Not on Bell Road , I am not trying to be a disrespectful but have you ever thought that maybe you should be more worried about the employees at the school or the college or the package store, The reality is iin the year 2007 you cant trust ANYONE! At least ion the halfway house they have rules and structure most child molesters run free among us everyday and most of them are NOT on drungs or alcohol they are just very very sick. |

TO NOT ON BELL ROAD....First off I hope that you never need a facility like this for a child, grandchild, or a loved one! Dont think this is above you! It knows NO prejudice! You speak of working in a rehab facility...is that right?! Do you care to share where that is because there are NO facilities in this area that are decent!! You mentioned that the people living in these house are from prision...well let me fill you in...YOUR WRONG! Also you are wrong about this being a compound of 10-20 homes. Where ever your info is coming from its incorrect!! If these people didn't want to be in the homes they wouldn't! They are there on their on free will trying to start over! Statistics show that there is a substance abuser of some sort in 3 outta 5 households.....which would you rather have in your neighborhood? Just because you think your income level is more these people.....does that make you a better abuser? I rather have a rehab house next door then someone cooking meth! |

In addition, it isn't my neighbors I worry about. It is people that are brought here from other areas. There intentions may be good and genuine but I have worked with "rehab" patients on many levels and some aren't successful in maintaining sobriety even if it is faith based. |

I am all about helping others but don't place a "rehab" compound (10-20 houses) in a residential area that is less than 1 mile from an elementary school, college, etc. Shouldn't we advocate for an area that is out of town? We have kids waiting at the bus stop not 50 feet away. We have package stores within walking distance. Could the temptation to consume entice someone to walk there? |

i agree with you and I support any effort to help others, I am a nurse, so helping others is my ministry but I am concerned that 10-20 homes are being built in a residential area. I know folks need help, I see it everyday but not in a residential area. I am concerned for safety, kids at the bus stop, and the impact of having such a compound next door. I want to help others but when I come home, I would prefer that I not have to worry if i lock my door or who may be lerking around. My concern is for our local community (the immediate area I live in). |

YOU KNOW, YOU MIGHT BE RIGHT, I DO LIVE NEAR THE NOBLE AREA. BUT I HOPE THAT IF A HALF WAY HOUSE WAS BEING BUILT RIGHT NEXT DOOR, I COULD KEEP IN MIND THAT THE MAJORITY OF RESIDENTS THERE GENUINELY WANT TO IMPROVE THEMSELVES, AND HAVE NO AGENDA THAT INCLUDES HARRASSING NEIGHBORS. |

Your blogs need to hold more comments. They shouldn't cut off older comments. For example, the "Disappearance of Theresa Parker" blog -- BY FAR the most popular blog in Soundoff for the past four weeks -- fills up with new comments almost every day, so that comments posted the previous day roll off. It just doesn’t make sense that popular blog(s) “delete” comments. Your blogs should allow readers to page back to older comments, all the way back to the beginning. |

I believe I've managed to take care of the double posting issue, but we'll have to see if any more get through. Still working on the cap lock/editing issue. |
