The Rome International Film Festival (RIFF) is receiving some national attention by film and literary magazines.
This week, RIFF is featured as “Festival of the Week” on Moviemaker Magazine’s Web site. The article, by Mallory Potosky, highlights the international aspect of RIFF, the relationship that RIFF creates between filmmakers and audiences, the “walkability” of the festival and the substantial content of independent film.
Visit www.moviemaker.com/festivals to access the full article.
Also, RIFF anticipates being included in “25 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee,” a feature article appearing in the spring issue of Moviemaker Magazine.
And finally, RIFF will be mentioned in the March issue of Oxford American Magazine through an article by RIFF Creative Program Director Harry Musselwhite.
The article will focus on independent films about the South and will be part of OA’s Southern Film issue.
“It shows without a shadow of a doubt what kind of impact RIFF is having in the industry, which is a global industry, and how the festival is impacting the region,” said RIFF Executive Director Barry Norman of the interest that the national publications are taking in the event. “The culture of Rome and Northwest Georgia are being positively impacted by the festival and the exposure created by festival attendees and media.
“For RIFF 2007, we will continue mining the world for the best indie films, exposing the region to them and the filmmakers to the region, to the mutual benefit of both,” Norman continued.
The Rome International Film Festival is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization based in Rome. RIFF 2007 will be Sept. 6-9 in downtown Rome. Venues include the Rome City Auditorium, the DeSoto Theater and The Forum Civic Center.
As part of the 2007 festival, RIFF will host the first Southeastern Film Industry Expo at The Forum Sept. 7-8. Visit www.riff.tv for more information about RIFF and the Southeastern Film Industry Expo.
