Ringgold High School went on lockdown this morning at approximately 8:15 a.m.

According to school officials, the lockdown was a precautionary measure. A Ringgold High student told administrators that there was potential for a fight between two students.

However, one of those students only attends the school part-time and was off-campus at the time of the report. Once officials located the off-campus student at approximately 9 a.m., the lockdown ended.

It wasn't just over a potential fight. This boy threatened to kill another student and said he had a gun.

It is a Federal crime to make threats. Any type.

lockdown due to potential fight? Good lord, I think thats a bit of an overreaction. Why not a lockdown due to any crime committed within a five mile radius, just in case the perpetrator flees and runs towards the school.

Is a threat by a guy more real than a threat by a girl? Gun, knife, which one kills more than the other? Boy, somebody really missed the call on this one. But why should I be surprised. So glad my kids don't go to RHS where a threat is not a threat but a prank.

Such bull and one-sidedness at Ringgold High School. On the news tonight a student at Ringgold received two calls from cheerleaders threatening to slit her throat and using vulgar language and the assistant principal told the mother of this student that he felt like it was just a prank and nothing would be done. Does being a cheerleader give you the right to call another student at 3:00 in the morning and tell her you are going to slit her throat, call her a stupid b---h, and another call telling her you f-----g hate her guts????? Get real Ringgold High, girls can be much more vicious then boys and you cannot ignore this and say well they are cheerleaders they have to be good girls and it is just a prank. That is not a prank, it is a threat and you cannot say one kids who says he is going to kill someone is a terrorist threat and another one is not. Furthermore, students who are athletes, cheerleaders, class officers, band members, etc. should be held to the same standard as everyone else and maybe even to a higher standard as they are often looked up to by other students. Somehow this really doesn't surprise me, but it does sicken me. I don't know who the assistant principal is, but he/she, Ms. Vaughn and the school superintendent need to get their heads out of the sand and take every threat, no matter who says it, seriously.

Good to know they took it seriously and took precautions for the safety of everyone.
