Larry Brooks: The greatest enemy facing America is liberalism
Thursday April 17, 2008 10:33:06am
The worst threat we face in America today is the philosophy of liberalism. Yes, this socialistic credo based in part on Marxist thinking has produced greater threats to America than all the terrorist action from the camps of both bin Laden and Hussein — Saddam not Barack — combined.
The death of America, I believe, will come from the hands of these liberals forcing their socialist agenda, like Teddy Kennedy and Harry Reid, not by the militant radicals that are currently engaging our troops in Iraq.
I am amused when I read or hear liberal politicians or commentators make their pitches trying to sell this agenda of socialistic class leveling. From it, there is simply no end to the promises they will make to the public to grab control of government. They offer the mistaken notion that government has all the answers for the needs of Americans.
In our country today, we have generations of people who, because they are the product of a socialistically controlled school system, that buy into the idea that government owes them an existence. And not just an existence, but an existence that is comfortable and accommodating to their every whim. They stand like children in the checkout line at Wal-Mart saying “gimme, gimme, gimme.” The only difference is that they are expecting from Uncle Sam instead of Mama.
Today, we have three contestants running for president, two of which have promised Americans the moon for their vote. They embody the essence of this liberal socialist agenda, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. One prime example of the liberal promises guaranteed to Americans exists as universal health care offered by both Clinton and Obama.
I recently read where one columnist was trying to convince her readers of just how wonderful the world will be once the country has elected “a Democrat” to office and universal health care becomes a forced reality for all Americans. In her description, flowers will fall from the sky as all the animals of the forest sing in harmony while we all frolic in the fields without a care in the world because government-ran universal health care will guarantee us a lifetime of perfect health. Honestly folks, if you think you are getting the short end of the stick now from insurance companies, just wait until government takes over the reins.
Liberals like to talk about the expense of the Iraqi war upon America, saying that it is carrying us deeper into debt, but they willfully ignore the cost of all the socialist programs they have forced upon America. These programs have and will continue to cost us more than our money because they are creating a society of dependency. But in the end, that is exactly what liberals want. They want people depending on them so they can stay in office.
For a moment, let us consider the cost of liberalism in America. For as stated, it has cost us far more than the debt we have accumulated in Iraq and probably all the wars we have participated in combined.
Take for instance this prime example — most Americans are unaware of the cost of social programs today that aid in things like the birth of infants that are dependent upon state assistance. According to one source I read recently, this cost is in excess of $180 billion a year.
Where is the outcry among liberals who pretend to be so concerned with the economic deficit of our country? There is none. Why? It is because they have created this environment of dependency. Liberalism, among the many lessons its teaches, says that people are not responsible for their actions. Liberals continue to promote the outlandish idea that a socially controlled government will take care of its irresponsible dependents. Therefore, no responsibility is necessary on the part of the public.
What happens when everyone begins to follow this example of societal dependence? Socialism has always led to the eventual rise of a dictatorship and then collapse. Simply look at socialistic Russia as an example. In my opinion, Hillary and Obama seem to be arguing over which would look best in the green army fatigues.
Here is another example of the irresponsibility that liberals promote. Ironically, it exists in a very similar form as to what universal health care will look like, Social Security.
Liberals created this system that many Americans depend upon for retirement. While a good idea in theory, it has proven to be anything but that. Liberals believe Americans are irresponsible with their money. So they have taken it upon themselves to allow government to reach into our pocketbooks and take what is not theirs. What is even worse is that they have drained the reserves of Social Security dry over the years.
According to one source I read, the government spends upwards of 70 cents of each dollar that is paid in by Americans today in administrative costs toward the Social Security system. Again, the amount being paid isn’t being invested in retirement accounts for tomorrow but to support a bureaucratic infrastructure. If this is what we are getting with Social Security that is forecasted to be bankrupt in 20 years, why do we think that universal health care accounts will fare better?
Wake up, America. Liberalism is robbing you of your money, your moral identity, your children, and soon, your health.

"Robbing us of our money", last time I checked it was President Bush who doubled up the national debt, and turned a blind eye to illegals (actually offered amnesty) while watching manufacturing jobs heading further south or (far) east. Yet he continues to indebt the next generation, even giving us a rebate for an upcoming tax year when he is out of office. However, he hasn't been fiscally responsible since he took office, job well done or shall I say "Mission Accomplished".
Maybe there needs to be some offset for shipping jobs overseas, above and beyond the usual Workman's Comp payments an employer makes. Something that takes immediate, something that helps us from being inundated with lead laced toys from Mattel, or other chinsey Chinese products. However, the misguided American consumers who shop at stores, like the one previously mentioned, which have less than 20% of American made products on their shelves. As long as our American dollars go to stores and companies that are "pimping" inferior products with minimal governmental oversight, we have only ourselves to blame for the exodus of jobs from American factories.
But the illegal immigrant situation is a "catch 22". If they are here doing those jobs that other Americans don't want, they are filling a void. How many (white or black) high school dropouts do we see getting in line for jobs at chicken processing plants..... I have a feeling I could count them with one hand.... while holding a hot dog. However if we ship off the immigrants to whichever countries flag they are flying in their front yard. The corporate stiffs with their million-dollar golden parachutes in hand will just ship those jobs down there. Damned if we do and damned if we don't, so there are no simple answers.
I guess in this area I agree with you, no one is entitled to a Governmental "Golden Ticket" regardless of being here legally. However there is a need to protect the masses from our own ruination. There should be a safety net for society, not a cozy indefinite handout. If you attend school here you should have to produce a Social Security Card verified with a birth certificate, otherwise you pay for what you are receiving from the country you are choosing to live in....illegally. Just grab $1500 per student, from under the bed and pay your fair share. While you’re at it put down the six-pack or pack of cigs and pay for your child’s lunch, after all what’s more important. The illegals do have one concept others could espouse to achieve. Personal self-motivation.
The personal self-motivation of illegal workers who are after all working, which is far better than collecting a welfare check for a decade. Personal self-motivation is key in determining success in life, and is a lesson that the dropouts of Walker County and elsewhere will have the next decade to contemplate. If you plan to get ahead in life you may just get there, but failing to plan may leave you behind for quite some time.
"at the checkout line at Wal-Mart saying gimme , gimme , gimme.” - While it is true there are some who abuse the system , there are others who need it to get by in times of crisis. There does need to be a bit of Are you suggesting we turn a blind eye to the laid-off workers at Maytag, and La-Z-Boy, when the corporate greed mongers made the decision to move some of their operations to Mexico. Yes, lets cat away the workers for a small bump in the stock price of which will likely be offset by fewer sales due to lesser quality products. Yet, you have the cavalier conservative attitude of "Let them Eat Cake" Some of the extreme liberal democrats may seem like socialists, to which I say- Socialist Ideology+ American Spending habits = Soaring Taxes which would result in a short political career.
However, quite a few politicians on both sides of the aisle have made a long career of expensive pet projects and pork-barrel earmarks, ninety percent of which are done on the sly to hide who is bilking the tax payers. This is the first thing that needs to be fixed to get spending back in order, then secondly get campaign finance reform. As of April 18th there has been $435,936,662 dollars spent for this run for the Presidency, which will pay less than one tenth of one percent of that total annually in earning. Just a thought.
But that is another topic for another time..........
