It is like the old story about the puppies. One day a man saw a little girl sitting on the sidewalk with a box full of puppies with a "For Sale" sign attached. He stopped and asked the little girl "What kind of puppies do you have here little girl. She said, "These are Democrat puppies". The man told the little girl that he would come back and buy one of the puppies once they were a little older and their eyes were opened. The man went back a few weeks later to see if the little girl still had the puppies. The man told the little girl that he had come back to buy one of the democrat puppies. The little girl said, "I don't have any Democrat puppies". The man said you told me they were Democrat. The little girl said, "That was when their eyes were closed. Now that their eyes are opened and they can see, they are now REPUBLICANS!!

The only reason Bebe is making herself available to the public is so that she looks good to the public. David Ashburn is running this county and Bebe is the one in the forefront getting the votes. She doesn't make the decisions without Asburn telling her which way to go.

If she is such a fine person, why did she jump political parties when she knew she couldn't beat Chapman on the democratic ticket? She is in it for herself. She may have alot of people fooled, but not me!

RayJ5 ------ In reference to your comment that Andy Hames is not a Republican, I have spoken with the "Dool" and he is very upset that you used his name in your comment without obtaining his permission.

He has confided in me that if you persist in this that he may seek legal counsel. CV

I'm a Walker County citizen, and I have not gotten any of these postcards in the mail. I've been following these posts and I am just wondering --- has Bebe held these meetings since she has been in office, or did she start them recently? I have not made up my mind about who I will vote for in the commissioner race, I was just curious as to whether or not the meetings were part of her campaign??

You got to give it to Bebe. She does take the time to make herself available to the public. I believe that there is no agenda set for the meetings. It is a time that anyone can come and talk to her about their issues in the County.

JTScott are you calling me a liar? Maybe you should hand deliver them next time to assure everyone gets them. Well you said atleast they have an address to go to and the only address posted is the headquarters address. So maybe you need to give me a break and think about you are typing and posting before you hit the post comment button. I guess if I am bashing anyone it would be you JTScott not Bebe. I was only telling what I have experienced. If I wanted to bash Bebe I am sure I could go talk to some negative campaigner and post a bunch of bull but I am not.

BeBe is a politician and she is only doing these meetings because she is trying to look good in the eye of the public. She only cares for a few and she does whatever it takes to make sure she gets reelected. I have live in WC for years and I never got a card about a meeting. Only a few show up because they know the purpose of the meeting.

WN...give me a break! If you do live in Walker County you would have received the post card. You are on here to bash Bebe and it will not do you any good. You are not going to find Bebe at her headquarters during the day unless she might go there on her lunch break. She works the rest of the time and I am sure that there are lots of lunches that she has missed because she is busy doing the county business. Yes, we all have opinions and some are not worth mentioning.

Wellnow - we must use the same post office! :) I think the purpose of the meetings is to be available outside of normal office hours (the times when the rest of us are working, too). I know we all have opinions and they come out in force during election years. I guess I just want everyone to be as informed as possible. I know a lot of people just don't have the time or resources or interest for that matter to really look into the issues and are sometimes swayed by loud opinions. And in my experience, loud opinions are typically based on bad information.

WalkerMommy...I do live in Walker County. It is funny that I check my mail every day and I have not recieved on of those post cards. Maybe they go to who they want them too. I don't know. All I know is that I did not recieve one. I disagree with you on giving up two months worth of her evening is above and beyond what is required of her office. I think that if she was so approachable in her office she would not have to waste two months of her evenings! Don't get me wrong here, I am not trying to bash Bebe. I just responded to JTScott post and just a few occasions when I needed to talk to her. Again though, I believe it is apart of her job to inform the citizens of Walker County of what is going on and if she thinks giving up two months of evenings to get this done then that is apart of her job in her office. My opinion. We all have them.

Well now - do you live in Walker County? If so, you received a post card with dates over the course of two months that the Commissioner is going around to each and every community within Walker County to hold meetings. She is making herself available to EVERY CITIZEN. I have been to several of her meetings and typically, only a handful of people show up. The fact that she is giving up two months worth of her evening to be "approachable" and available to her constituents is above and beyond what is required of her office.

Well now.....I have drove by her headquarters my times to see no one there and when there is, I don't see her vehicle there. As far as her office, that is not fair because she is already an elected official. That should not give her the advantage. The way I see it (just my opinion) is that if I have to go to her Headquarters to find her hoping she is there and if she is not then I have to drive to Lafayette to her office hoping she is there. I sorry that does not seem appraochable to me. I know I have been by the Commissioners office in Lafayette several times and she seems not to be there. I am sure if you wanted to meet the other two candidates, they would be glad to meet you somewhere.

It is funny that you try to figure out who a person is. Actually, I don't even know who Coker is. The Senator's race is not an important one for me to follow up on.

I don't anything about Walker, but I know Steve and he had no need to tell people taxes needed raising because BeBe could give him what he needed if she wanted to. She chose not to because of political reasons.

I do know Bebe and she is not an honest person. You have the right to your opinion as do I. Jeff Mullis is employed by the Walker County and it is public record. Call it NGJDA if you want, but it is under Bebe's department and he has not business drawing a pay check from the citizens of Walker County who elected him as a Senator. Actually, what has he done for Walker County. There are so many businesses closed and the industry is going down. He hasn't help at all. The only area either one of them is concerned about is Chickamauga. Maybe you need to open your eyes and look at the public records and stop being so critical of those who do feel Bebe is the do all end all.

Juga ooga...you don't know everything that you think you know. Bebe asked Steve and little Miss whinny pants Walker to step up to the plate and tell the citizens that they were going to have to raise taxes to get the money that they were asking for from the budget. They wouldn't do it. Instead, Whinny Walker told people that Bebe was going to raise taxes. How can you say that Bebe is not an honest person? You don't know her or you would not say such a thing. As far as Jeff Mullis working for Bebe, where have you been? He is the Director of the NGJDA. He has a board that employs him.

First of all, I am not a deputy and do not work for Steve Wilson. Secondly,Bebe can send any memo that she wants and say she is cutting her pay, but in reality nobody really knows what she is doing. As far as Wilson's budget, it takes that much to make the department work. You have no idea the expense that occurs on a monthly basis. The fire department gets whatever they want because of David Ashburn. They never have to fight for what they want. It is all political for Bebe and she will make sure what Steve Wilson ask for he WILL NOT get it. A raise would be considered if enough money was allowed to run the department and then some. When a raise is figured in, the health insurance goes up. Why, because Carl Ellis is big buddies with Bebe and she allows him to handle all of that.

Bebe is not an honest person and is not upfront with people. Again, why allow Jeff Mullis work for Walker County, when he has a job as State Senator. It is all corrupt and as long as she is in the driver's seat, it will be.

Deputies are not whinning as far as I know. They are used the chaos. Don't give me that about the fire department...there is no comparison!

And so it begins......WCSO deputies start their whining and smear campaign. Juga - She DID cut her own pay. I have seen the memo authorizing it. She sent it out to all county employees letting them know that she was leading the charge to reduce spending. (Apparently the Sheriff didn't bother showing you that one!) The Sheriff's Department has a $7 million budget - almost 3 times that of the fire department. And the fire department has just as big an area to protect.

Bebe most certainly DOES care about other departments. I think it is high time you deputies do your research. It is not the commissioner who decides whether or not you get a raise - it is YOUR BOSS!! If the Sheriff doesn't include an increase in salaries for you and your cronnies in his budget, there is not much the Commissioner can do about it. You need to check your facts, my friend.

Sorry. I did look at the address wrong. You have to admit though, if the citizens can't get Bebe by phone they at least have an address to go to. They can also go to her office. Where can you go to see the other candidates?

BeBe Heiskell is only approachable for those of whom she wishes to contact her. She has one agenda and that is for herself and her sneaky followers. She doesn't care what happens to any other department except her own. I don't believe she cut her pay. She has never given the Sheriff's department the money it takes to run the department. She doesn't care. She also employees Jeff Mullis and pays him over 80,000 a year. He is a state senator and shouldn't be drawing a check from Walker County. BeBe has lied so many times and if someone could get it her out, it would be the best thing to happen in Walker County.

Well now.....JTScott apparently you need to look again. Bebe did not put her home address either unless she is living at her campaign headquarters. There are phone numbers for all parties and even a e-mail address for PJ. Maybe you should not be so quick next time to post something that is not true!!!

Come on PJ. You cannot get any more comfortable than you can with Bebe. She is the most approachable elected official that you will ever find. She will sit down and talk to you on a one on one basis as long as you need to talk. You can go to her office and meet with her at any time. You can phone her at any time. If she is not there, she will ALWAYS call you back to talk with you or make an appointment to meet with you. She is accountable to the people and you can't cut more spending than Bebe has. She has even cut her salary. You are barking up the wrong tree and you don't have any clue as to what you are about to get into. You will be slam dunked for all the lies. Hold on sister...you are in for the ride of your life. I think you should let the voters know your name and not just your initials.

Wait a minute! Mr. Hames says that is wife is unemployed??? Only three weeks ago she was working at Hutcheson. That is, Susan Brown was. I wonder why she doesn't use the Hames last name? Is there something hiding in the bushes?

Where is the leadership or management experience? How can we trust someone to lead our county that has never so much as led the Pledge of Allegiance at a civic club meeting? I think Walker County's leadership should reflect Walker County citizens. I'm just not sure that some that has only lived here for a few years can have a thorough understanding of all that Walker County is. Hames is only running because of his extreme dislike of the fire department (hince his "property owner's right" and code enforcement is a bad thing crap) and PJ has only ever served Hamilton County citizens. If either one truly cared about the citizens of Walker County, wouldn't they have been involved at least somehow before now?
