HB 89 is the gun carry bill that would allow concealed gun permit folks to carry a gun onto state parks and in their cars onto business parking lots.
One reason we never camp/mountain bike/hike on state parks is the inability to bring a concealed gun. We always take a pistol when we do those actvities...you never know these days when you may need to defend yourself.

In reference to Gov. Sonny Perdue's latest editorial regarding his opposition to sunday sales of alcohol. He basically points out that when New Mexico allowed it, that alcohol-related accidents and fatalities increased on Sunday.

I wish some reporter had the guts to ask him why he doesn't outlaw alcohol all together...........Aren't the lives of people on the highways more important than selling alcohol????? Why doesn't he sponsor a bill to ban alcohol sales on Monday too? Aren't Monday drivers deserving of his protection??

Fb, I am not sure it is the money either, but perhaps these women truly love their spouse, don't know, but surely if it were just money, when something like this is so public, they could get a divorce and get everything they want in a settlement. Could be though, they like the power side of being Mrs. Whoever in the political spotlight, but I would rather have my dignity and all of his money!!!!!

What an incredible waste of time and effort by the Republican lead legislature!! Do you honestly think the powers that be are going to redraw part of Chattanooga and East Ridge into Georgia. By all means, if an error was made it might need to be noted but we have obviously known about this for a long time. Too much time has passed; Georgia's fault. Move on to more important things that need your "legislative" attention !!

surprising results from last night.
Huckabee looking like the VP candidate for McCain.
McCain will need someone that can carry the South.... McCain can win the Northern states and out west.

I agree, familymom.

I like the fact that Paul seems to be pretty straight to the point when addressing the issues. I like to hear people not only say "what" they are going to do, but also "how" they intend to do it. Each time Paul has answered in the past, I hear the "how" and "why" addressed.

Manufacturers will have to design a new way to drive cars in Georgia since the gun laws will change. Now we'll have to put up with folks talking on a cell phone in one hand and holding a gun in the other.

Msla, I like Edwards also and if he were the democratic nonimee, I might even vote for him. On the republican side, I am leaning towards Huckabee, though I don't know if he will be able to garner the nonimation either. Seems Edwards and Huckabee have the money issue in common. Too bad and really sad, that the candidates with the most money to spend are the ones who usually win. The really sad thing is that no matter who is president, in many ways they are just as much a figure head as the Queen of England. It is congress and all the powerful lobbyist that control this country. I think that we need to consider who we send to congress as much as who we vote for president. I also think we should kick the lobbyist groups out of Washington.

AS AN OLDER MAN I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE YOUNGER FOLKS THE TEENAGERS KEEP
PUTTING UP WITH ALL OF THE LONG - TIME POLITICIANS WHO KEEP PLACING MORE AND MORE
LAWS ON THE BOOK'S TAKING AWAY THEIR RIGHT'S, HEY IF YOU ARE OLD ENOUGH TO GO FIGHT
IN WHAT I BELIVE TO BE AN UNJUST WAR, YOU ARE OLD ENOUGH TO BUY AND DRINK A BEER.
AS WITH ALL THE LAW'S ON JUST OBTANING A DRIVERS LICNCE, ENOUGH ALL READY,
ACCIDENTS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN, SOMETIMES, TO A TEEAN AGER, SOME TIMES TO SOME ONE
IN THEIR 40'S SOMETIMES TO AN OLDER PERSON. ALL THESE YOUG FOLK'S HAVE TO DO IS THE
DAY THEY TURN 18. IS REGESTER TO VOTE AND DEMAND CHANGES, AND AFTER JUST ONE ELECTION
WHEN THEY HELP VOTE OUT 1 POLITICIAN WHO THINKS THEY KNOW WHAT'S BEST AND ALL THE
OTHER OLD CRONIES WILL FALL IN LINE REALL FAST.

They need to raise the price of gasoline, $2.95 a gallon isn't that much to pay for a 7 mile ride in a ole hummer, 10 miles in an F-250, or 13.7 miles in a yukon. Whats it take to fill up, a meazly hundred bucks or so? Whats all the fuss about? I love it!

PTOs are buying normal everyday equipment for schools....copiers, etc...........which leads me to believe that either 1) we are being undertaxed because all of the capital improvements are being made through SPLOSTS, and PTOs are buying small stuff such as copiers and computers OR 2) the money is being mismanaged...
I'd have no problem with an audit, but only if the naysayers, assuming the audit turns up no discrepancies, would agree that we need to stop expecting a trillion dollar school system on a million dollar budget. Being an ex government employee with floyd county, I know the deal...........the county commission tries to keep taxes from being raised forever, while at the same time the price of EVERYTHING increases over time, including gasoline which triples in price over a decade......yet no tax increase......I think we may be expecting too much.........and we end up with schools who rely on parental contributions to supply their day-to-day needs, and police forces who are 20% understaffed and can't keep decent officers from leaving to go to the megalopolises, such as Polk county.

GAP claims they had no idea that a sweat shop used in India to make a line of their clothing used child slave labor. These children(10-13 years old) worked 16 hours a day for no pay. I know other clothing lines probably use the same type of labor. Evidently, it's a common practice. I am trying to be a more concienscious shopper and will be researching for different products. Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations. It's nearly impossible to find American made clothing. I don't think there is a big price difference to the consumer, but a difference in company profits. However, they would still make money with american products and provide more jobs to our people.

Here's a thought, perhaps if from the time our children are born, maybe even before, we pray for their future spouse, they would marry the right person. Maybe the divorce rate could be cut in half and we wouldn't have so many children who have to deal with divorce and remarriages. Maybe if we also talked openly with our kids about love and marriage and responsibility and how not to think with your hormones, it could make a difference as well. I always prayed for my children, but I never thought to pray for the person they would someday marry. Wished I had.
