toosavoter..my thoughts exactly! I do agree with a wellness program, but lets face it, this is a costly wellness prgram for taxpayers.

Does anyone know what insurance plan the county has? I for one would like to take advantage of lower insurance premiums for getting healthy. If the county is self insured for insurance benefits I can understand how lower claims with reduce the premiums. Other than that I have not yet found a insurance company that will give you lower premiums for having your employees get fit and healthy, as it along with EVERYTHING else is going up in price. That is a great benefit for the county employees, however, I think maybe they should have paid the membership fee for employees if the club charged one and then let the employee pay the club dues at a discounted rate. I feel this is unfair to all the county taxpayers, like the comment from Robbie they will not join that gym but the fee is going to be paid regardless, so that is WASTEFUL spending of the taxpayers money. I know that the State of Georgia is having to cut budgets, people are losing their jobs, having to furlough days from work so this does not set well with all that is going on around us. I just think they should have done more research and come up with better options..

NO NO Bebe!!!!! Is the County self insured for Health Insurance? I do not know who the insurance is through but have not heard of a carrier that will lower your premium for employees who have a gym membership. Come on! Our taxes are high enough and getting higher every year, this is outrageous. Who is monitoring the employees and if they go to the gym, if employees don't go it looks like wasted tax money to me....
