Poor Slynay - just can't get over the fact that Obama won! Even posted stats trying to prove that the reason was the ignorance of the people that voted for Obama. VERY FUNNY considering the total lack of intelligence demonstrated not only by the current Republican President, but the VP candidate put forth by the GOP this last election. My third grader grandchild knows more about history, the constitution, geography, and current events than that woman.People simply don't trust Republicans anymore. They've lied to us, shredded the Constitution, and denied the advancement of science. In short, they took us back 50 years. Obama's vision is for a better future - not throwing us into the Dark Ages. Get over it and do your part to make things better. |

FamilyMom, I refuse to let you insinuate that because I do not believe America is perfect - I am unpatriotic. Those of us who see the imperfections and try to cure them are probably those who understand what the concept of America is really all about. I have never fallen into the group that says something should be done a certain way because "it's always the way it's been". I believe that the more we tweek and change the way we do things, the more likely we are to make it better for more and more people. Most of the world's downtrodden would love to come to America. Do you think they want to come because they think the streets are paved with gold? No - they want to come because there is a promise here that we all get to be who we are. That means we get to say what's on our minds without fear. |

It seems like Slynay hasn't figured out that the American public doesn't buy the politics of false personal attacks anymore. The Repbulicans have just lost their last political tactic. This election will be won by Obama regardless of how hard the Republicans have tried to brand him as a Muslim, as a radical and as a Socialist. The name calling didn't work this time.Slynay doesn't seem to research much either. Maybe none of them read or listen to anything other than Rush Limbaugh. |

To John Warren - You put forth very strong right wing reasons for favoring Sarah Palin. Nothing of what you said about ideology and priorities was any different from what would be expected of someone who plans to vote for the McCain/Palin ticket.Your last sentence is when I laughed out loud! You said, "She's smarter than Senator Barack Obama." That's when I knew your fervor had clouded your intelligence. Sarah Palin has proved time and time again that her IQ is limited. She bounced around to 4 colleges before she finally got a degree. She couldn't cite any other Supreme Court decision other than Roe vs. Wade. She did not understand the job duties of the VP. She misunderstood the 1st Amendment to the Constitution. She is supposedly an expert on oil and gas and yet denies that the earth is millions of years old. By the way, you do know it takes millions of years for the earth to produce oil don't you? She is a remarkable lady in many respects, but she is not smarter than Obama. Obama distinguished himself at Columbia and Harvard, taught Constitutional Law, has written best selling books, and can actually write his own speaches. |

Toosavoter, if education is your issue with Coker - then you can't possibly vote for Mullis. Coker has more college than Mullis and never lied about where he went to college. Mullis once told reporters he attended UGA - which is a lie. He has never been registered as a student @ UGA! For goodness sake, Mullis was a shoe salesman and a real estate agent before public office. I think a Sherrif's Deputy knows the county and its people much better. Republicans have done nothing but enrich their pals in the last 8 years and that includes in Walker County. Be real interesting to see the difference in Mullis and Heiskell's net worth before and after public office.... |

I'm looking forward to a country that pulls together to solve real problems facing us all. Energy independence and repairing and updating our infrastructure will bring both work and purpose to the country. The past 8 years have drained us of all of our trust in our officials. We know that those in Washington put themselves first instead of the people who elected them. We know that the almighty dollar rules all decisions made there. Vote the Bums out and let's get a fresh new start on facing our challenges with courage and honesty. |

Toosavoter, I have to point out a couple of things that may skew your numbers a little. First, the number of people considered "rich" elevated drastically between 1980 - 2006 and I'm betting that makes the difference in the increase from 33 to 39 %. Look into that number....Next, I'd like to disagree with the premise being tauted that "....small business accounts for the highest employment in our country". I think it's bunk. Why? I was able to list 22 actual small businesses with which I've done business. My definition of "small business" was less than 15 employees and under $1 million in receipts. In each case but one, they all hired family members and the profit and wealth was closely held by the family. There did not appear to me that these entities went outside to offer employment to others. It also appears to me that the bulk of small businesses are actually one person companies. |

sctruth4u has somehow managed to make a complete fool of him/herself! Chuck Clements can't stand Bebe Heiskell and would NEVER be involved in anything that woman does. Can't figure out who this person is talking about, but sounds more like Oliver...could they have mixed up their attorneys? |

Could racism be the culprit? Ponder the following:What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three month old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter? What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class? What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee? What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident, when she no longer measured up to his standards? What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married? What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to pain killers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization? What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard? What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five? (The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.) What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker? What if Obama couldn't read from a teleprompter? What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing four planes? What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem? What if Michelle Obama's family had made their money from beer distribution? What if the Obamas had adopted a white child? You could easily add to this list. If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are? This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference. Educational Background: Barack Obama: Columbia University - B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations. Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude Joseph Biden: University of Delaware - B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science. Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.) vs. John McCain: United States Naval Academy - Class rank: 894 of 899 Sarah Palin: Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in Journalism Education isn't everything, but this is about the two highest offices in the land as well as our standing in the world. You make the call. There has to be a reason that, in spite of the above, we are where we are today. |

The Conservative Republican right is confused....example - they claim they want the government to stay out of the lives of the people, yet they do not recognize matters of personal choice like sexual orientation and when it's the right time to have a baby. These are very personal choices, but the Right wants to legislate that it's against the law to make these choices.
The Conservative Right, which claims to uphold the "sanctity of life", favors the death penalty and always backs war.
Give me the Liberals any day over this two-faced, dogmatic Conservatism.
Go figure,,,Sounds confused to me.
