True and funny story concerning the importance of vocabulary.

A local educator was at an administrative meeting and the troubling subject came up of some teacher(s) falling asleep during class. She had a hard time maintaining a straight face after the following statement.
The principal said, "I also have a problem with necrophilia, and people just don't understand what it's like to feel this way."

msla, I couldn't pull up the address for the article. I bookmarked the Jerusalem Post, but did you have a title or date for the article? I'm interested.

At work today some people thought that the strategy behind McCain's vp choice was purely because she could blast Obama with a smile. That's my superficial description. I doubt he only had one reason for the choice. I believe it could be because of he ties with Alaskan oil, desire to drill (in AK or anywhere), working class roots and probably more.

I'm for universal healthcare. So many of my friends are self-employed as is my family. The insurance premiums are sky high with high deductibles. Something has to be done. I recently mentioned that we have many government run services. Public schools and universities. Libraries. Road construction and maintenance. The police and fire departments. Noone responded when I asked whether we should privatize all these services. To privatize them when you use them you pay for them. Our country is better when we can provide these things for everyone, regardless of income.

Democrats need to worry about Palin because she is a likeable person, someone you'd like to invite over to dinner. As with GWBush people "liked" him, though I never really saw it. I do see Palin as extremely likeable even if you disagree with her on a few issues. Sadly, voters often don't look at qualifications or issues (like war or national debt) but on a gut feeling.

Ringgoldone, I think the DNC planned the speech in the football stadium. I just finished watching Obama's speech. I thought he did great. When I look at the huge crowd, it looks like a snapshot of America. I know you don't care for Dems, but I'm sure you can appreciate the historical importance of the acceptance speech. I have plenty of Republican and Democratic friends and proclaim to be an independent myself.

The HOPE Scholarship is not really an academic scholarship. Kids just have to maintain a certain grade in school. It's not an "honor" for those students to attend a certain university. When one thinks about it, the lotto is a "tax" for the poor folks. I know of people that sit there (in convenience stores) with their disability checks or what little they work for and dump it into the lotto. Guess what? We have a lot of social programs in this country: public schools, the health department, the police department, garbage disposal, fire department, road construction and maintenance. Should we privatize all these services?

Gatorfan, both sets of grandparents worked hard in two different mills in my community and never became rich. They supported their families. However, I imagine they worked harder for what they owned than most millionaires. Some of these CEOs that embezzle money and leave their workers in poverty probably never worked as hard as my grandparents. As I've said before on here, one of my grandmothers took her measly bagged lunch to work and brought it home after 12 hours of work everyday because she never had a lunch break. Those rich people would not make so much if it weren't on the backs of poor people. Yes, wealthier Americans should pay their share fair.

Pop quiz for y'all. How many homes do you own? This question baffled pool old McCain. I think he might be a little (lot) senile. He's definitely not on top of his game my friends.

Well, well. Rockmart continues to make backward, stupid moves. The city is in the process of cutting down the trees that line and shade Goodyear Avenue. From someone on the job, he said that the city thinks the trees are too big.

familymom,
I can probably search and find Hannity's "quotes". Finding his sources is probably another matter. I'll check it out though. Thanks.

AmericanCitizen,
I'll check out your video link in the next week. Right now I have a slow connection and videos are tough to watch. You usually have some interesting info.

Adios my ciberspace compadres.
