Bert, trucks are required to use the outside (right hand lane). Maybe thats why you havent seen RPD writing tickets. Its a good thing they are enforcing the laws the way theyre susposed to be.

Mountainman youve been on cops pretty hard the last few days, Why is that?

Mountainman, I am totally against the foot bridge (look at my comments under that topic). There are a thousand ways 2.4 Mil could be better spent in the city. I dont think that Floyd county will have anything to do with the bridge but I may be wrong. There already are a couple of fishing docks at Riverside Park, in the little section closest to Celeneese.

Mountainman, How do you figure 8 out of 10 people accused of a crime in Floyd County are innocent? It COSTS the county to lock people up, from paying the salay of the police officer all the way to the cost of presenting a case in court. The City of Rome is building the foot bridge not Floyd county.

Mountainman, where in Floyd Co. is it 5 miles from Walker co? and if it is so bad why stay? What kind of crap does the city of Rome "dish out"?

Well great, another 2 million and some change thrown away. Im sure when this thing opens all kinds of people will walk across it just to say they did. After a few months it will be nothing more than a place for punks to spray paint and people to hide under to sleep and smoke dope. But look on the bright side, im sure there will be a nice big plaque with all the names of commissioners, the mayor, and city manager bragging about what a great job theyve done. I think it should read "look at how we threw your money away". And to top it off, i bet the "mayor" graces it with his name. Ill refuse to walk on it.

Why spend 2.4 million on another bridge across the river when we already have 3? 5th Ave and 2nd Ave both have side walks, and then theres the old foot bridge which is still in good shape. I think the commissioners could find better things to do with a large sum of money like that.

Ima, you cant expect the police to be everywhere at once, especially in a town like Rome. Go buy a scanner and listen to all the petty calls they get (and yes they get them at 4 in the morning). It is easy for all of us to sit here and be mad at them because they weren't right where we wanted them, but who knows what was happening. Maybe it was an emergency? Perhaps he/she was dealing with something important. If that officer was at your house because someone was trying to get in to harm you, but was caught by the cop, who otherwise could have been on Broad St. Would you care about the windows then?
Sure its easy to play "arm chair detective" but think about something for a moment. Just earlier tonight, they sent a Rome City Officer to talk to a lady because her boyfriend "hurt her feelings," She tied up an officer for about 15 minutes. That's 15 minutes he could be catching bad guys. Those men and women have spouses and children at home alone while he/she is risking a great deal (serious injury or death) to protect us for not much money. They deserve more than our scrutiny and cheap doughnut jokes (that was tasteless). I did a series of Ride-alongs for a college course I took, it was a real eye opener and changed my views in many ways. You, and anyone else who shares your attitude should consider going on one some night.

The good folks at walmart installed that speed bump, and did not put up a sign or paint it for the first few days. I came off of Tammassee Ln, and proceeded through the parking lot. Anyone who goes through there knows that the lights in that corner are not always on. I hit the speed bump with no warning whatsoever. I drive a sports car that sits low, and those speed bumps are the worst ones Ive evern encountered.
