Thank God the GBI was called in. That Sheriff appears to be an idiot. He's already been on TV calling it an accident before the investigation is complete. Dade has a history of incompetent sheriffs.

I got a question for all you democrats. Why are all major cities in America that are controlled by democrats also the highest crime cities? Why is it that when crooked politicians are arrested, 9 out of 10 have a "D" after their name? Look at Clayton County Georgia. An ALL democrat school board and their school system was decertified. 52,000 kids who can't get the HOPE scholarship and go to college. Why do gays, lesbians and the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Cynthia McKinney all vote democrat? Is it because they believe the gov't should penalize people who work and have money so they can support bums too lazy to work? Wake up. The democratic party went north years ago to be with Ted Kennedy and John Kerry. All the democrats want is your money and your gun.

I think Eubanks was a good choice and will do a god job.......until the first time he doesn't jump when Goulart and that red neck city council barks. The only thing the officers need to "settle down" from is outside interference from those mickey mouse politicians. Goulart is a joke and Red Smith still thinks it's 1970. Good luck Eubanks, you'll need it. Maybe you an drag that bunch into the 21st century.

Ft. Oglethorpe has a reputation of electing red neck clowns. It's hard for a professional person to work under those conditions. After Red Smith left and Chief Black was hired, progress was being made in moving the department forward. In the last election the voters thought they were voting in a different group. In reality they voted in another, and maybe worse, good old boy mentality group. I'll make a couple of predictions. #1 Doug Howell (Red Smith's buddy) will be hired by FOPD in some capacity. #2 The elected clowns will eliminate 16 of the 17 applicants for city manager so they can keep Goulart.

Has every officer in Walker gone crazy? Parker, the Chief in Chickamauga, Judge Peppers, a deputy DUI and now retired state troopers taking up for a drunk judge endangering the people he has sworn to protect. I guess even troopers feel a sense of loyality to their "drinking buddy and golf partner". What a shame.

HermanSners III: What's your definition of a good man? Donnie Peppers has made a practice of turning drunks loose for years. I've witnessed it for 20 years. All you have to do is pay a lawyer $1000 and Peppers will reduce the DUI to reckless endangerment , not reckless driving (not even a traffic offense), so you won't lose you driver's license. The lawyers get rich, the drunk get to keep his license and continue to drive and Peppers draws his fat paycheck. The key is the $1000 to a lawyer. No lawyer, no reduced charge. All of this is public record if you have any doubt. By the way, the Walker County solicitor is the same solicitor for Ft. Oglethorpe.

I have a friend who works at city hall. She said the traffic stop on Judge Peppers was video recorded by the officer's in-car camera. Now that the case has been settled, it becomes public record and can be played on the evening news. Why did the city attorney order the arresting officer to turn the tape over to him? I'll bet that tape has "disappeared" along with all the other evidence from other stops on the tape.

According to Romegasir, if you are in a serious wreck and unconscience for a day or so ( long enough for the alcohol to get out of your system), and if you're unconscience you can't have implied consent read, you get away with DUI. And since this occurs on a regular basis in the very serious wrecks throughout Georgia, there would be a way to hold DUI drivers accountable for their actions. I'd be willing to bet that officer Romegasir was absent from law school the day they taught the class on subpoenas and seach warrants for evidence. And I'm sure you don't believe me, so pick up a phone and call the district attorney's office and verify this information.

It's never too late to do an investigation. An outside agency such as GSP or WCSO should investigate the accident since it involved a vehicle and a serious injury, subpoena the medical records at the hospital and determine if the Chief was DUI. Hospitals check the blood routinely to determine alcohol/drug content. If he was over the legal limit, he should be charged like anyone would have been. If the Chief is truthful and only had a couple of beers, he should sign a waiver and have the medical records released. A couple of beers will not put you over the legal limit. GSP reconstructs wrecks every day. This would give the city the correct information to make an informed decision.
