Well Grace, and Sarah by default, I have read the article. The first time I read her article I had to re-read to make sure I was understanding what I was reading. And since that first time I have re-read the article. And now I have re-read it a fourth time, at your prompting Grace, and I still get the same message. Now I know that it has been several years since I was in school but unless the two of you read something between the lines I can't read, then I am getting the same message. I will try say this once more.

I believe what the new definition is saying concerns the "morning after pill" or something like it and the procedure of medically/surgically aborting the fetus.

Here’s the new Bush abortion definition, according to the draft HHS provided to Reuters: “The Department proposes to define abortion as ‘any of the various procedures — including the prescription and administration of any drug or the performance of any procedure or any other action — that results in the termination of the life of a human being in utero between conception and natural birth, whether before or after implantation.”

I'm not sure how something can be ended that never began. It clearly says "termination of life of a human being in utero between conception and natural birth, whether before or after implantation". Now if birth control pills stop you from gettting pregnant then the above has nothing to do with the re-defining of abortion. Again, it says termination of life. If there is no life to begin with, then you can't terminate a life. Please show me where you are reading between the lines that this means birth control pills or some of the other various methods of contraception.

Now I know it has been awhile since I had a science class or an English class but I just don't read into this article what you are reading. And the tone of JBT's article is set in the second paragraph when she calls President Bush and his administration "Bushies" and gives it a devilish twist by calling it "diabolical". But JBT carries one step further by saying "plan to rob women of safe and convenient birth control methods". I don't consider abortion (medically/surgically) birth control.

And Grace, I think preserving the right to an abortion as a form of birth control is exactly what JBT is saying.

AmericanCitizen, it is not just a woman's decision to end that life. She wasn't the only person there when it was made. Woman just happens to be the vessel for carrying the fetus. If a woman could fertilize herself then you might have a point. But when it takes two people to make a baby then it should take to people to end the baby. Maybe that is why God made man and woman. If Adam could have spontaneously generated a baby then he wouldn't have needed Eve. And vice versa. But God did make Man first. And Woman next to complete him. The old saying "it takes two to tango" is true. Unless of course we are talking about a bank kind of thing or a glass dish.

Sarah27728, I really don't care whether you think I was rude or not. I don't even know you, so your opinion doesn't even register in my world. And you don't even know me. But if you want to call someone out by name then be prepared to get as well as you give. I didn't consider what I posted as rude. Rude to me would have been to say her husband must be an idiot. Now that, to me, is rude. I don't like name-calling and don't resort to that type of rhetoric. You on the other hand have been very rude. Not only to me but to Maggie. You must be a younger person than myself. I can pick that up by the wording and misspelled words of your posts as well as your use of letters to represent words. You must be great at texting. I never stated I was a person of high morals. I do try to do what is right for me and my family. I believe in my savior Jesus Christ. I believe what my Bible says. And if God told Jeremiah that He "knew him before He formed him in the womb" then I feel that there must be some importance to that statement. The womb is mentioned many times in both the Old and New Testaments. Maybe that is because God felt that the womb and what was produced from the womb was and is important. And I have a great respect for life or I wouldn't be in the medical field. But for JBT to say President Bush plans to cook "up a diabolical new plan to rob women of safe and convenient birth control methods" is just absurd. It is not talking about prevention of pregnancy but the termination of a pregnancy. Two really different subjects. Someone who supports abortion as a form of birth control is someone I don't care to know. I am all for preventing. I am all against ending. So Sarah27728, take some of your own medicine and sleep well tonight.

I would hate to be one of JBT's kids and some day sit and wonder, "did mom at some point think about aborting me?". It is obviously on her mind and an option she would like men to stay out of. Her poor husband, he must not have a say-so about raising the kids since it is "HER" right. It's like only a woman can have and raise a child. Maybe a man can't physically "deliver" a child, but there are many men raising children without the assistance of a woman. And doing quite well.

I once was asked to assist on a suction D&C, at my job in a local hospital, on a young girl that was supposed to be in the throes of spontaneously aborting her baby. In talking to the girl, I found she had no abdominal pain and had not had any bleeding. I re-asked these questions and she again comfirmed she had no abdominal pain or #$%&! bleeding. I told the doctor I would not be assisting him in this procedure and told my charge nurse I couldn't assist in something I didn't believe in. I was taken off that case. No one else that night would do the case with this doctor for the same reason. The young girl, her boyfriend and her mother left. The doctor complained that we refused to do a procedure he had ordered. But as an employee of this facility, I had the right to refuse to participate in a procedure I felt went against my beliefs. It is also my right to say abortion is wrong.

Sorry to put this on this page instead of the page where it belongs, but then it belongs here also. The recent garbage spewed by JBT regarding abortions has me so mystified. She professes to believe in God then in the next sentence she supports abortion. Maybe conception is "above her paygrade" also. But according to my Bible, life begins at conception. If God knew Jeremiah before he was formed in the womb then it stands to reason God knew him in the womb. And I would say, as great as God is, He knew us all before we were formed in the womb and while in the womb. Wonder why the Bible mentions the womb so many times in its many pages? Must be some importance to the womb that JBT doesn't get.

Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Biden got there recent scolding from the Catholic church because of their stance on abortion. Yes, a miscarriage is considered an abortion but I think we all know the difference between an act of nature and a procedure a doctor performs to end the pregnancy. Abortion is wrong. I will never support abortion as a form of birth control. And it's just not the woman's body. It is a "house" for a growing and forming human being. Don't make babies if you don't intend to have them. Abortion is not one of the forms of birth control.

Sorry, meant "altar boys", but maybe I was right the first time.

AmericanCitizen, that is what I was trying to point out. Read above. The writer says "he" was found innocent. BULL He was President at the time, McCain wasn't. I didn't see that story all over the news. Happened long time ago. But you can't have it one-sided such as this writer always does. That is why they are so whacked out. If you write such an article as the one above then either start out saying this is a comic book entry or a piece of fiction but don't act like you are some kind of political writer speaking the truth. And I don't think I said anything about Repubs being alter boys. They are all human and subject to wrong doing just as you and I are. Yes the list is long, Kennedy 1, 2 & 3, Foley, the governor Spitzer, and on and on. And since when if a person divorces his/her spouse and remarries within a month of doing so does it become a matter of being "appalled at McCain's sexual behavior". I don't see any sexual behavior there. He divorced and remarried, there is no sexual behavior to be appalled at only poor judgement and actions. But I wasn't in their house, and I don't think the writer was either. So I have no firsthand knowledge of any "behavior".

Don't even try to compare what McCain did when he WASN'T President to what Clinton did while he WAS president. That is why the above article misses the mark. Can we say slanted, one sided, yellow journalism. I believe we can all now say that Clinton and Monica did have a dalliance. He and his wife both have admitted. For someone to say he was found innocent is to believe that bears don't live in the woods. Something about these folks being unable to tell the truth.

True, gavoter, but most of the laws the President signs into law are those that those greedy congressmen stick in there. The President should have line-veto power. And there should be no recourse for the congressmen. If we American Voters saw all of the pork put into these laws we would vote these guys out of a job. But once in they maintain their salary once they leave office and keep their insurance. Now, tell me another job that allows you to do that.

If Pelosi is so powerful, and we have more Dems than Repubs, then why haven't they turned this country around. All you heard was the "first 100 days". Nothing happened, things just got worse. Just keep towing the democratic line and see where that will get you. Nobody seems to being doing anything right now.

Grace, I tend to side with you on several matters. But we will have to draw the line about Bill and Monica. I am not accepting of this in my White House. That is not what he was elected to do. And then to lie about it. I'm not judging anything that wasn't put out over the airwaves but he made a vow to his wife. He broke that vow. He also made a vow to this country and he broke that one also. He is a liar and delusional. Bush has and is making his own mistakes but so far he hasn't stoop this low. Time will tell. Kucinich is a crackpot. He knows that at this late date there isn't much that can or will be done so he his trying to puff himself up. Where has he been for the last 7 1/2 years, head in the sand. Watch him on TV, he has such a flat affect, he's whacked out.
