The article sounds like Mr Culpepper bought the scooter to ride back and forth to work, when in reality he is isssued a city owned vehicle to drive back and forth to work, and home for lunch. I went by City Hall before I wrote this comment to see if the scooter was parked there, and if he may have parked his city owned vehicle and is actually riding the scooter to work. It must have been parked in a very secure place, because it was not visible from the road or City Hall parking area.

Is it not curious to anyone else, that this alleged act was reported only to Mr. Jefferies and to Mr. Garrett when there are a total of five candidates running for office. Why would someone report only to Chickamauga Auto Center owner & employee & not to the other three people running. Somethings not right here.
Also, did it not embarass anyone else to read the letter that Ms. Berry wrote to a State official? It was full of grammer errors and could not have been proof-read before mailing. The entire Election Board should be concerned that someone with no better letter clerical skills than that is running that office and is in charge of Walker County elections

It would be interesting to know if he was driving his Walker County issued vehicle.

I think this person from California should not be taken seriously, he knows nothing about the people involved or about the case other than what he has read or viewed on news reports. Has it ever occurred to anyone that Sam Parker is INNOCENT until proven guilty. No wonder he was evasive and fidgety in the FOX interview. He has been tried and convicted in the media and in a lot of local folks minds. The news media has gone out of their way to interview people who will say bad stuff about Sam. They should interview peolple who have had positive interaction with him. I'm sure that in 20+ years working in law enforcement in a small community like LaFayette, there are several people who have positive opinions of Mr. Parker. They should not be hard to find.

juga,
you may want to research & edit your statement that NO schools were closed. How about Gilliam (sp?) on GA Hwy 157 on Lookout Mtn, & Pond Springs & the three in Rossville on McFarland, one where City hall is now located, and the other across from Land's Bakery on McFarland and one just north of this location, also don't forget Fairview and the elementary school in Linwood and Center Post located on GA Hwy 337 south of LaFayette.
I'm aware of Bebe's budget and her top paid people, but I would be willing to bet that if you total up the amount paid to her top people, and the amount paid to top administrators at the Walker BOE, there would be a large difference and the BOE costs would far surpass what her folks earn.
And don't get me wrong, I am not a supporter of Mrs. Heiskell, I think she has way too many people on her payroll, far more than Mr. Parrish or Mr. Chapman had when they served as Commissioner.

Eventually there will be a revolt of taxpayers in this country. We can only have the quality of education and public safety (fire & police) that the taxpayers are willing to finance. Renters pay no property tax, and burden the schools and infrastructure of county resources.(go to the jails and see how many property owners are incarcerated. Very, very few) The schools are top heavy with high-paid administrators and the children are getting no better education that they did in the past. Several schools have closed in Walker County in the past several years, but the number of employees at the Department of Education Central Office has grown to the point that they had to move to the old Lafayette High School, due to lack of space for warm bodies on the payroll at the Duke Street office. It's good that the elderly folks are going to get a tax break, but the burden is going to be palced on the rest of us property owners.

Roe vs. Wade has already addressed this issue, so why would local lawmakers think they should try to re-write a law that works. Anyway, morality cannot be legislated, and that is what the Republican bible-thumpers are trying to do. Abortion should be between a WOMAN, her doctor, and her personal beliefs. This matter should be left alone, and more important issues addressed.

It is amazing to me that there were no 'qualified' candidates from the local applicants, with the exception of Officer Doyle. I don't know him personally, but I do know several of the other applicants, and I know out of all of them there had to be at least one or two others that were qualified to be PSD. Another thing I found curiuos about the 'committee' to review applicants, is that the Sheriff of Walker County, and the Master Sergeant of the local GSP Post were on the committee, but the Chief of Walker County Police, David Ashburn, was not on the committee. I guess they did not want his input.

Alison should have known what she was going to face at the shelter after working at the Lafayette Clinic and living in the community for as long as she has resided here. I know she is sincere in her desire to help the animals, but she should have realized that if throwing money at the problem was gonna be a fix, the animals would be way down the priority list since there are so many other projects that take funding.
