I don't care who is slamming who. Bottom line is, we the people do not need to pay for some frivilous expenditure. As far as the lowest taxes goes, well I hate to point this out but we actually need to raise taxes. With the lowest taxes then how can we offer anything other than that to bring in "BIG" business from the "Auto Alley"? Now don't get me wrong, I hate taxes, but they are neccessary to mantain our needs first then our wants. This workout program is a want, and should be stopped. Why not do like other companies have done. Install a "gym" onsite. We could spend alot less money putting one in the north end and one in the south end of the County. Using existing County buildings. NO fees, just an initial outlay. Use a card reader to monitor access and track employees to show the insurance company that they are trying to be more fit. Also, you would see which ones do not go.

toosavoter, You said it!!! I agree, this is a waste of money. You know, if a person can't afford a gym membership and suffers under a high insurance premium or no insurance at all, it should make them feel good to pay taxes to cover this. If they feel good then maybe it'll reduce their stress and they can get lower premiums too!!! Next we'll be offering them bus rides to the gym to save gas. Oh I bet that will reduce taxes too.

Folks...We are not here to decide who is going to hades, just to pick a favorite for clerk. CV you have knack for twisting things to help your cause. I've noticed that a lot from the Debbie Supporters. Now truth be told I am a registered Democrat, I believe in God, Jesus, and hope. My vote will go for Carter Brown. You know what? That Republican belives the same thing. You folks carry on with your disscusion of religion. I'll check back in fifty years to see how you all are doing.

I got an idea! How about taking some of the vehicles back from people that have no reason to have them after hours. Like Utility workers that go to CVS with their wives at 8 o'clock at night. Or maybe have the officers that live outside the city leave their car at the station. Would that cut insurance costs too? If an officer lives nearly in LaFayette how much fuel is he using going to and from work??? Lets see...14 miles...20 miles per gallon...would be 1.4 gallons per day...say he only worked 180 days a year thats a total of 252 gallons at lets just say 3.35 per gallon equaling over $844.00 dollars. Just to get one officer to work. Now how many utility trucks go home? How many Detectives drive home? How many other Government employees are enjoying that gas and vehicle at the tax payer expense? Thinking about the $800.00 dollars in fuel and the liability of the vehicle being on the road for non-police work, wouldn't it be more cost effective to just give the officer a raise to compensate and park and share the cars? You know you see it everyday. Government employees abusing their privledge of having a "company car", some not intentionally, some not thinking it matters and some that just don't care because "they deserve it" I'm glad I live in a county that doesn't have all these problems. Wish you guys the best of luck. I got to go get a Sunday paper. Now where are the keys to the Fire Truck?

The court clerk is not to be confused with a law clerk. Court clerks are essentially secretaries, while the latter are attorneys who assists judges in making legal determinations. So why is it so important to point out all of Debbie's many jobs and legal degrees? Doesn't that make her "over qualified"?

Rayjay5,
What difference does that make??? I was married to a woman that turned out to be a different person later. It did not affect who I am. So don't even go there. It is ridiculous. I am not a Coker supporter but good grief get a life!

Well I'm glad to see that there are people on here with a heart. You can judge a persons character by the way they treat animals. Animals do each time they meet a stranger. Ever notice someone saying "oh be careful he doesn't like strangers" and the dog going right up to the "stranger" and rolling over for a tummy rub? A pet does have unconditional love for it's owner/friend/companion I've seen dogs beaten and still come to their owner for petting with a cower and I'm afraid attitude. That ticks me off. We more responsible pet owners in Walker County so there are not so many animals filtered through the Shelter.

Well I thought this was the talk about Debbie and Bill page. I guess its the bash UCTV instead. So here goes... I will admit the shows are rather Mayberry and a little bit of Snuffy Smith. Well maybe not 'ol Snuffy himself but Louise and Elviney at the gossip fence. nuff bashin'. The TV station is informative and it does play a decent role in our lives. There are good shows that do actually serve a purpose such as North Georgia Animal League's show, the Animal Crackers show, Dr. Sheffields show, Sherriff's Talk show and even the Morning show and Night Talk. So...nuff pro tv talk, We have an election to talk about.

Folks, If you read the news about oil prices you will see the cold hard truth. The PEOPLE have the power to control oil prices. With demand going down and big oil seeing the reaction of people here in the U.S. and abroad, prices are falling. They see we will seek alternative means of fuel for our vehicles and energy for our homes. U.S. Dept. of Transportation says we logged 9.6 BILLION fewer miles in May than the same time last year. Our demand for Oil dropped 891,000 barrels a day in May than the same time last year. DON'T STOP! Continue what you are doing and cut back. It is a slap in the face to Oil companies for boasting their huge profits while many Americans are forced to bankrupt and let their homes foreclose.

Anywho, If you listen around you'll hear and old grapevine talking about a sex scandal that was kept quiet and forced staff changes. As always, how better to cover up something so political than to reassign the accused.
