What makes me mad in Walker County is...
11/05/2008 06:46:11 PM
VWN I don't know your circumstances and I won't make excuses for your situation because I don't know, but I can tell you from my experiences, Bebe is a very, very busy person and sometimes, she forgets things when she has a lot on her plate, staying in touch with her is important to keep anyone who is busy reminded of your situation. Secondly, I know that a good leader surrounds themselves with others who are helpful whom she can delegate things to that they can help handle things. I don't know that this was the circumstance and I am certainly not saying that you are in any way wrong for your opinion. I just know Bebe and know that she would never intentionally blow someone off. It just is not in her nature. I can't explain what happened. I wish I could. All that I can suggest is that you call and talk to her and tell her how you feel and why you are upset (respectfully of course, because being ugly about it doesn't get anyone anywhere). Try it and let me know how it turns out. Just one time. PLEASE. I'll let you in on a little secret. I didn't vote for Bebe when she ran against Buddy Chapman (either time), but I didn't give her a chance and I didn't get to know her until she was elected. Now, I can't imagine Walker County without her. Give it try. She does still have an open door policy. |

Oh, wait, I wasn't talking about you Johnny because you weren't promised a job. Just wanted to make myself clear. |

I just want to say congratulations to all of the candidates that were successful!!!!! Especially BEBE!!!I just want her to know how much she is appreciated and that there are those who recognize a good thing when they see it. As was said in other blogs...the people of Walker County have spoken again. Why can't everyone send suggestions to the commissioner's office for things that they aren't happy about instead of griping all the time? Some fo the things I hear are ridiculous and some are ligitament, but could be resolved if Bebe were just told by enough people. So let her know your thoughts and suggestions. She is a public servant, that is what she is elected for...to represent the people. She can't do that if you don't voice to her your concerns. Oh well, I guess the list of people promised jobs will have to wait another four years. |

Did anyone notice who was in Sheriff Steve Wilson's campaign commercial? Low and behold the upstanding citizen Rob Neal. Guess that wasn't such a great political move was it? |

I don't agree with the judge getting the DUI, but it is a little bit different. He was not on duty or at the courthouse when he got the DUI. He was on his own personal time and made a "bad choice" and it didn't (thank goodness) involve any children. These guys were at a school function, not technically on "their own time". I would love to hear what they feel that their punishment should be. I certainly feel that the school officials, parents and students deserve a public apology for embaracing the school system at the school so the kids can see. Counciling may help some of them. Public service would be good so that the kids can see that they did get punished. I hate for them to loose their job, but if I were their boss, I would certainly have a close eye on them. If anything else were to happen, that would be it. You can't afford to take a chance when it comes to the kids. |

How is it going to look to the students that have been kicked out of school for similar things if all these teachers get is a slap on the hand? |

I for one am not judging these guys. I've know most of them for a very long time and have always respected them. HOWEVER, no matter what the blood alcohol level was, there should not have been ANY alcohol to detect. PERIOD. If a student were to show up at school drunk, what does everyone expect should happen? WE are paying these guys to teach our children. This is not something I, as a parent, want my children to learn is okay. I know children who have been kicked out of school for very similar offenses. ZERO-TOLERANCE. The same should apply to faculty and staff. The students are not given given an "oh, everyone makes mistakes" and they are children. These are adults that we are talking about. They do know better. You say things are being blown out of proportion, but I don't think that the levels are telling stories. This is all that I am basing my opinion on. I don't care if they drank before or after or during the game. They were at a school function and had been drinking. THIS IS NOT OKAY with me. I honestly do not know what their punishment should be. I hate for anyone to lose their job, but my goodness. What did they expect to happen if they got caught? |

Look! I am not going to talk about the Clements or the "big whigs" as you call them. ALL I can tell you is that you are mistaken about Bebe's relationship with the Clements. You sound a little disgruntled. Are you sure that you don't just have a personal problem with someone? If you have so much truth to tell, now is your chance. Tell it. But I don't believe that what you have told so far about BEBE has been truth. I do believe that she can work with anyone in a public office, but Chuck is not in a public office and she doesn't have to work with him. It has even come to the point where Bebe went to Chuck and ask him what his problem with her is, but it didn't help. He still bashes her and Jeff Mullis at every turn. |

sctruth4u - I'm not sure what rock you crawled out from under, but Chuck Clements hates Bebe.Charles Clements is the dad and he represents Walker County in the Magistrate Court for Codes Enforcement issues, but Charles and Chuck are not the same person. You are mistaken on a lot of what you have said. Please check your facts. You couldn't be more wrong. The county employees may not have to worry about a dime, but the ones I know certainly do worry about the other nine dimes it takes to make the dollar. |
