Hey Maggie,There are around 16 verses omitted or bracketed with footnotes saying that they aren't in the early manuscripts in the NAS bible. The problem with that statement is that there are about 5000 OTHER early manuscripts that prove otherwise. The early manuscripts that don't contain the verses are those that come from the Gnostic Philosopher, Origen. That's why the Trinity verse is tampered with in 1 John 5:7. |

I never "suggested" you google anything....but then you take everything else I say out of context...so I'm not a bit surprised. The wonderful thing about this blog is the fact that all words sit and remain right here, for anyone who wants to go back and scroll through. You keep accusing me of "doing something" to you, and I have YET to figure out what that is. Why is posting the beliefs of a baptist church so offensive? Monday, you know exactly what you did. Yesterday....minding my own business...here you come with some nonsense about rabbit holes....now, here you come back again today. Same thing, over and over. I'm tired of it. Go find someone else to accuse of things they didn't do. Sorry, my dance card is full. DONE (Titus 3:10) |

That's a good story, Maggie. Matthew Mark Luke and John, as well as the WHOLE Bible are truely inspired of God.I wonder if the scholar learned how to be saved after he believed those books were inspired? Good scripture, I'll stick with KJV, though. II Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction for instruction in righteousness. Did you know that the NLT was taken from the manuscripts of Origen, who was a gnostic philosopher that thought the creation was mythological, and didn't believe in the diety of Jesus? (just thought He was nothing more than a good philosopher, basically.) |

Diogenes,I wish that ONCE, just ONCE, you'd answer something with the Bible rather than all of your philosophical babble. Theologians, Scholars, YOU, who cares? What does the Bible say? Everything you've said is only opinion. Whether it's YOUR opinion, or that of some so called theologian...its' JUST opinion. If you're going to talk "Bible" then you really ought to use the BIBLE, and not just commentary (which is opinion) only. The only scripture you even used was a portion from my previous post. Childish name calling? Wow. You've called me several things, and I never even called you "childish" for it. Besides, you chose your screen name, not me. Someone who names themself after a Greek Philosopher is telling me how to understand my Bible. Wow. Unbelievable. Why'd you pick a name of such a character as "Diogenes" to represent yourself anyway? ....wait, perhaps I don't really want to know that. I can answer every single line that you typed and tell you why you are incorrect. But it doesn't matter. I've done it repeatedly. I answer every question you ask, every wrong comment you make, every false assumption you make of me, etc. etc. etc. It doesn't matter...."everyone else is wrong" and "you are always right" ....Great attitude you've got there. Problem with it, you loose your ability to LEARN something from someone else. Perhaps that's a characteristic trait of the Greek Philosopher (Diogenes) as well......I may have missed that when reading all of those other unbelievable actions. But, as I've already said, it's getting tiresome. I engaged yesterday just to try and laugh it off. Today, I don't have the patience for you....and your honestly not worth my trying to muster it up. There would be NO payoff whatsoever in doing so, when I know by now, that you're NOT going to listen. And to be completely honest, I'm really beginning to feel sorry for you. I hate it that you don't understand salvation, and you don't see the importance of actually knowing what it is. I hate it that you won't listen to someone who wishes to tell you. I hate it that you get angry when others try to lead you in the right direction. I hate it that your heart is so hardened that the truth just bounces right off. I hate it that no one can post something in which you disagree without your accusations of attack, or without your attacks on them. What are you so afraid of? Why are you so angry? Why can't you look at yourself and your actions? It's SO easy to pay attention to everyone else and their faults when there's something in your own heart you don't want to look at. You are amazing at portraying other people in a negative light, just because you somehow feel "attacked" I hate it all...but I can do nothing about it. And I'm tired of wishing I could. If I could successfully "wish" salvation on eveyone, then I absolutely would in heartbeat. But, it has nothing to do with me and my abiltiy at all. I can present it, but that's where it ends. Arguing about it is doing no good. You believe that the only thing necessary for salvation is simply a belief in Jesus, and in His words only. What IF you're wrong? What if there's more understanding needed. Nothing complex...just simplicity. What if you really DON'T know everything that you need to know to inherit eteral life? What if just a simple change in point of view is still needed? What if it's not just all about having faith in your own faith? What then? I do apologize, however, for not sticking to my word. I said that I'd ignore your tactics if you came back on here with that same attitude toward me. You got me again....I fell RIGHT into it. So, I'm sorry that I enabled you. I'll try harder not to do that anymore. I'm done. (Titus 3:10) |

Diogenes the Great: "Before you dispute what most scholars state on this, you really should spend the time to become aware of the facts behind such an understanding. Luke was teaching the same congregations Paul did, so, of course we expect to see, and do see, the same usages." Looks like the same "usage" as Matthew here (not as Paul): Luke 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. This is the Earthly Kingdom.... Luke says it, Matthew agrees, Where does Paul talk about it? Are we going to make assumptions that Luke was writing to the same congregations as Paul, when Luke is actually addressing Theophilous in BOTH of his Epistles? Besides that, Luke was giving an account of what took place, and not giving "instruction" to anyone. |

Diogenes the Great: "Most biblical scholars understand this is because the congregations Matthew ministered to were composed mostly of Jewish believers, who, because of their Jewish traditions, would be bothered by using a name for God."That's funny. I was under the impression that talking about being able to actually GO to Heaven where God is, was JUST as "bothersome" as actually putting the letters YHWH into text. But I'm not a "Biblical Scholar" but rather a Bible Believer. |

Sorry ringgoldone, I was WAAAY off on my count of deity names missing in the NASV earlier. I stopped counting too soon, was still early in the OT)The final count is actually 210 removals of deity names from the NASV. You pose a pretty good question, about the manuscripts. Are you aware of just how many manuscripts that were used in the Textus Receptus? the answer = 5600. 5600 to compare against one another, against fragments, against other translations. How many were used in the new translations? The two I mentioned earlier. Older isn't always better. BTW, in Galatians, in the NASV, the word "Christ" is left out 4 times (1:5, 3:17, 4:7, 6:15), the name "Jesus" once (6:15), and the title "Lord" is missing as well (6:17). The entilre context of Galatians 2:7 is also changed. Perhaps Origen had more of a problem with the diety of Christ than you presume. |

Diogenes: "I hope you understand that Paul did not have any of the four gospel accounts to draw upon, as they were all written after his death, but he did have the same things those four authors had, which was a collection of the sayings of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is from these Paul forms his descriptions of the Kindom, just as our other author related some of the same in recording the Sermon on the Mount."Maybe you'll want to do a little more research on "what Paul had." -Which was MUCH more than just a collection of "sayings" of Christ to form Paul's descriptions.... Why do so many assume that all that was said to Paul DIRECTLY from Christ, himself was, "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?" ???? That was only the FIRST thing that Jesus said to him. I don't know about Romans, but I get tired of posting scriptures that you apparently refuse to read. Maybe you'll get a little curious and look this up for yourself. If for no other reason, than just to prove me wrong.... ...Whatever motivates you to study, I guess. "This belief about Rapture is a common one, but it is not really supported by scripture. I myself have no interest in this topic, because there is no way to resolve the issues for any of the various theories, and I think the answer, that we have to be ready when the Lord comes, is the same regarless of which view one has about a rapture." You use the word "rapture" Paul does not, but the event is an actuality...and our place in it is described in 1 and 2 Thessalonians. There IS scripture to support it. He also makes a point to tell those at Thessolinica that he really had no reason to tell them the events of the Tribulation.....why? because of the catching away he had just described beforehand. Wouldn't be there. Neither will I. As far as being where Jesus is...I know no Christian who takes the view opposite of the one that you listed, and I hope that you aren't implying a belief, from anyone here, in that opposite view. If Jesus is our "head" and we are the "body" how can we be separated? If you are in Christ, you have no CHOICE than to be "where ever He is." But if the esablishement of the physical kingdom is not something that Paul wants to detail, I don't spend alot of time there studying it out...I'm still working on my responsibilities in the "now." As I said before, I am satisfied to be used in whatever capacity He sees fit.... But there's NO separation from Christ. He's also God, remember? -BTW, you posted a pretty arrogant response, including some insulting statements to someone who disagrees with you and pretty much only used scripture doing so, with no personal statements about your character/personality/attitude whatsoever. So, before you start trying to blame YOUR actions on me (again) perhaps you'll scroll back through the posts and see that Romans said absolutely nothing out of the way to you today, and only answered your questions....and quite throuroughly, I might add. Someone goes out of their way to take the time and answer you respectfully and all you can do is spew off answers that are in direct relation to the character/person, you percieve of Romans: "You seem to put great stock in your assumption..." "Before you dispute what most scholars state on this, you really should spend the time to become aware of the facts behind such an understanding." "I am most pleased that you....." "You have already claimed..." "You are correct..." "Where you make an error..." "as you so often claim..." "You are very close to getting the truth..." all in ONE post. Now, go back and read Roman's posts and see how many times YOU were referred to personally, other than to address you for and answer, and to tell you that you're a Gentile. I suppose you'll look at this as another attack....but I hope that perhaps in pointing out the way you speak to someone other than myself, that has not said ONE cross word to you today (although, first off, you accused romans of "baiting you", in the conversation with riggoldone-not you.) you might possibly see that it is impossible to talk to you as long as you behave that way. Ringgoldone and I disagree ALOT, but I've had conversations with him since I've been on here, and he has yet to call me unintelligent or self-righteous....the worst thing he's said about me personally was to try and label me...and according to what he said today, he didn't mean it as an insult...so I'll take his word at that. (now I have no clue what he's said about me under his breath. lol) I can make assumptions about what he thinks of me all day long....but at the end of the day, they are just that - assumptions. And to be honest, I really don't NEED to know what anyone on here thinks of me. My point is this, you cannot go around telling others how to behave when you don't do it yourself. I was terribly respectful of you for a long time, but it was taken as insult none the less. At this point, enough is certainly enough. This was not my conversation to jump in on, however, you were very insulting in your response to Romans....while I may have agged on a few of your snide remarks today (which really just roll off my back at this point) Romans was pretty darn respectful to you, didn't say anything about you personally, and took the time to answer you intelligently...don't take your anger with me out on Romans. |

Ringgoldone: "Frankly, we would be better off if pagans, who were Greek and Hebrew scholars, evaluated and translated the manuscripts."Also wanted to mention....that is EXACTLY what you've ended up with in your new translations, so that explains why you are happy with it...I will have to say, that I disagree totally with that view. Origen was the head of the "Gnostic School of Christianity" which promoted alot of things that you and I would never agree with today. 2 Cor. 2:17...Paul says...For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. |

I really enjoyed your "Who Was" post.
Pretty clear, and Biblically factual, without the need to insert opinion.
