been away for a while, so i'm just getting caught up on thing's, i read with great interst the editoral'sin 2/28/08 and 2/29/08.in the paper stating the ROME NEWS-TRIBUNE'S STANCE on just how wrong it is not to SCHOOL TAXES FOR T.A.D.'S. AND HOW MUCH TAXES MIGHT BE CREATED IN THE FUTURE. so really the way i understand this it's o.k. to take money from children's edication right now,but with the promice that in the future, children will be better off, because of the MONEY THE RICH JUST MIGHT PAY IN TAXES. I THOUGHT THE G.A. SURPREME COURT HAS ALREADY SAID NO LOCAL GOVERMENT'S CANNOT DO THIS? WHY MUST THE TAX PAYERS OF THE STATE OF G.A. PAY FOR THE IDEA'S OF DEVELOPER'S, IF THEY DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO DO IT, WITH OUT TAX MONEY, THEN IT SHOULD NOT BE DONE. |

as a new member i just want to say that yes DOGWOOD i did notice that little article about where onlyschool taxes can be used for school purposes only, not T.A.D.'S, and i agree with you,if the ledbetter family, and david doss or any one else want's to use public money for their own use, then the very least they could do is after the project is completed, it should become public domain property, and the tax-payers should bo the only one's to profit from the project.not mr.doss or the ledbetter family, or any one else, including the city commissinor's.from doing business behind closed door's. the city attorney must really be great at his job to even think that he know's more about the ruling that the g.a. surpreme court judges handed down, about the use of school taxes, again DOGWOOD you are right. and you know what i just hope the city's attorney get's the chace to prove that he is right in front of these very same judges, that their ruling only affects atlanta, thought the state of g.a. included rome but i guess not? |
