re: leading the country with a board of successful business leaders

It would be the same as it's been for the past 8 years

I was polled last week. Asked 1. from 1 -5 how closely was I following the presidential race 2. If the election were held today which frontrunner would I vote for Obama or McCain 3. How likely was I to actually vote in November for the candidate I had just named

Nope, CSS4. you're not the only one who sees the problem. I see exactly what you mean. I also have a problem with holding teachers accountable for poor student performance regardless of the background of the students. For instance, you have a school on the poor side of town, where most students come from generation after generation of families who view education as a low priority vs a school where most students come from wealthy, educated families who start exposing their children to opportunities for learning at an early age. It's likely that a larger percentage of the kids who came to school unprepared will not do well. I believe you could completely exchange the teachers and still get the same results. It's not the teacher's fault.

Do you know the meaning of Socialism and Communism yourself, Gator? I don't see anyone calling for an overthrow of the present government and everyone's house, land and posessions seized by a new one. Also, you stated it was your "God given right as an American" I guess you believe enough to think that God gives you the good things in life but in return you owe Him nothing, not even an acknowledgement of His existance.

Gator Fan, I guess you've never uttered the phrase "There but for the Grace of God go I" I have said it many times, in grateful thanks for the blessings in my life. Never say never Gator, you don't know when your world could come tumbling down around you. If you're self employed, you could be stricken with a debilitating illness that prevents you from working such as MS or cancer, if you work for a large company it could go bankrupt leaving you without a job and you and all the other employees trying to find something new, you could find yourself given the boot at age 64 like my Dad did when his company was bought out by someone who didn't want to even let him work a year til he could be eligible for Medicare to treat his diabetes, your company could pull up stakes and move overseas to take advantage of the tax credits given to American companies who outsource. As for your smart children who will receive scholarships, don't be so sure. Competition is stiff. I've known many straight A students who still did not get one. I hope that one day you will overcome your harsh selfishness. You may find yourself a member of the lower class that you despise. You mention God in your post so I guess you are a Believer. If you are not brought down in this life, our Lord may have some questions for you in the next one. Think about it. What Would Jesus Do?

For Pete's sake....find something else a little more petty to criticize. Bomb or bombs, a slip of the tongue perhaps. not the big deal you just made it out to be in your post. Obama lived in Hawaii did he not? I'm sure he knows what happened there. How do you feel about the Iraq war Slynay.....do you know all the details of the war that is happening right now? I have a family member who served in the army infantry there, in the Sunni triangle of death. That's why he is an Obama supporter.

Let me just remind you of something Slynay. The Republican party was in control of the house and senate for 6 years......not a word about overturning the abortion laws. Why do you suppose that was? If the issue was so terribly important to them, why did they not immediately rescind the law? Because it is a talking point, that's why. It's something that can be used to win the votes of those whose strong Christian faith lead them to vote for those who they believe will oppose abortion that's why. But after receiving the votes, they do nothing. I personally do not condone abortion however I can see how the issue is being used.

Thunderscot, your remarks about Mr Greene being a Catholic disgust me. I have lived in Catoosa county for many years but was not born and raised here. In the Georgia town where I was born, being a Catholic was not thought of as a sin the way it is here....why, I never even heard it preached from the pulpit of the Baptist church I attended like I did at the one I attend here. You need to think about what God is going to say to you about your judgemental attitude when you stand before him.

Evidently Judy was a big Bill Clark supporter. She just said that Greene is being "used" . I'm not a Republican, but it seemed to me that Mr. Greene is well spoken with some good ideas. I think his margin of victory speaks for what voters think of him. Congratulations to him, I'm very glad he won his party's nomination.
